Default Morales: "I'm ready to walk away"

    http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2...FKLemUxga.html

I thought it was best a Morales fan posted this. Man, it hurts, but I'm glad it was a great career.
I just HOPE he does retire after one fight, because something tells me he won't.
But I'm happy that Morales said he wanted to leave though. Maybe his pride for
being the best will prevent him from going back, because he knows that is gone.

--Also, I immediately disagreed once Larry Merchant said that Erik wasn't good at anything, just had a warrior spirit.
First and Only (wbo doesn't count) Mexican native 3 division champ since Julio Cesar Chavez. You don't
become a three division champ by just warrior spirit. I never thought HBO ever gave Morales his due.

Erik had it all; speed, jab, skills, and killer instinct!
In a boxing world were "excitement" is frowned upon as "bad boxing" Erik was alone in making exciting
moves in the ring and out of the ring by making the best fights possible the most part of his entire career...
and actually winning and claiming world titles from respectable boxers.
Thats more than just about any boxer can say and to go out like that the way he did this past weekend,
is only the best way to go out. On top and on his shield.

He'll definatly be missed, it sucks that he won't be fighting anymore, but it must be time now, 4 losses from his last five means it must be time to call it a day. I'll never remember him for the losses though, it'll be for his spirit, his incredible skills, iron will, and with the exception of Raheem, he's never lost to a guy who he hasn't beat. A true great and must be a hall of fame candidate.
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!

One of my favourite fighters of this era. Erik was truly special, his best attribute was that he fought to please the audience. fighters like morales come once a generation. He style was reminicent of duran and pryor who had indomitable will and could do everything in the ring. Erik is fortunate that he still has his health and speech and shouldn't worry about how fans would remember him. Erik was so great in his prime that he can go on to lose even his last fight and his legendary status will not be diminished.
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

    Couldn't have put it better.

Erik...you shall be missed. One of my top 10 favorites of all time.
