I figured that part was easy, is there anything I should look for? price range? amount of trainers? equipment?

Is there anything I specifically need when starting out? Do I just need some shorts, t-shirt, shoes and effort?

if you're like me, get your own gloves for bag work. beyond that you need nothing to start. I just hate sharing sweaty gloves.

my gym is $360 year and training with the guys on mitts is free. Some gyms like gleasons have trainers that charge additional fees. BS I say. To start, the guys at the gym will get you going nicely.

also, does it have good equipment, is it clean, etc. Are the guys pricks?

We suggest that everyone work-out with us and then decide what to do. It's difficult to know if you want to buy it if you haven't tasted it. If you are a recreational boxer I think you need some friendly instruction in a positive learning environment. If you're going to fight, you'll know if you're trainer fits you by the time your membership runs out anyway and you can shop for another one. It's like wearing the wrong size shoes.

With the gym I checked out today they are owned by a large fitness gym. Pricing is as follows.

$60 a month including a membership to the regular gym and then they have a boxing class that its more for fitness that would be approx $15 extra each time.

    thoughts?

So all in all I ended up paying $20 a month for my boxing gym fee's.

Ive picked up my wraps, 'light' gloves and a skipping rope and I have my first class tonight. Its just a boxing fitness class but the trainers said they would spend some one on one time with me with mechanics after the class is over. Im so excited!

dude! Sorry, but if you want to box, don't go there. You'll get taebo at best.

Go to a real boxing gym. But if you want chicks, the other place is where to go.

Gotta agree with Von on this one. Sounds more like their boxing program is designed towards getting in shape, not actual boxing. Which is fine, if that what you're looking for. But if you have any aspirations to box competitivly, maybe the extra driving time to a real gym would be worth it. http://boxinggyms.com/findgoodgym.htm would be a very good read for you.

I think it is a real boxing gym. I think they also do classes for people who want to be in shape. Here is a link to the gym.

David Finch is the head man there. Ive also heard he has a welterweight that has an upcoming fight for a title of some sort.
