What justifies Vitali to get a shot over Peter?
The same thing that justified Peter getting the win in the first fight.

Granted that Toney was screwed in the first fight against Peter, Peter won the rematch etc. But Peter didn't retire out of a mandatory defense and get a belt he could use whenever he chose to come back to fight the heavyweight champion regardless of who holds it or who fought for that number one.

Peter lose the first Toney fight, but he came back and he beat Toney that second time. Him and Toney were fighting while Vitali was enjoying retirement.

So what justifies Vitali who is even unranked at heavyweight because of his retirement to just jump back to then umber 1 spot

    I don't think it's right

Vitali pretty much got hooked up by the WBC. I guess it's a perk for being a former Ring Champion. It ain't really right. But than again what really is in Boxing. The reason I don't feel bad for Peter is that if Toney would of gotten the deserved win in the first fight. There wouldn't of even been a rematch. And Peter would not be in the position he is in today. The Heavyweight division needs all the help it can get any way.

I see your point. I just dont agree that vitali can retire and then just come back against any WBC Champ he wants, its like a freebe he doesn't even have to fight for.

He didn't just retire because he felt like it, injury forced him to and everyone at the time thought it was the right thing to do.The WBC granted him the Emeritus title and of course Vital isnt going to pass that up, nobody would. He was at the top when he gave up his belt to Rahman and that is why he gets an imediate shot at it now.I suppose the WBC could have gone even further and granted him the belt without even fighting the current WBC belt holder.

He was at the top by default. Lewis retired so he inherited the title. Had to beat Corrie Sanders to claim it and defended against Danny Williams, someone who even Valuev didn't deem worthy to fight.

Now he wants to get back in the mix against Maskaev, possibly the worst heavyweight champion of modern times.

He's awesome, just awesome is Vitali

Maskaev has nothing to due with him coming back, he has been in the gym for months and he finally feels he is 100% healthy at this time, it doesnt matter who holds the belt currently Vitali will beat any of the current belt holders(besides Wladimir)in any order it just so happens Maskaev will be the first.

Actually he said he had been in the gym for two weeks, as for who the champion is it makes all the difference.

He wants to jump in now so he doesn't have to fight Peter for it.

He failed to be become mayor in his home town so with his political career ended he sees Maskaev as an easy route back to the top.

It wouldn't suprise me one bit if after winning and milking all the media attention for having two pussies on the throne at one time that he retires again saying there is nobody out there for him to beat.

What is with the insults towards the Klitschkos?Wladimir has faced the best heavyweights and so did Vitali when he was fighting. Please explain why you resorted to insults?

You know what Klit fan? I've never understood it meself.

Both men are hell in the ring & theyr'e both all around good people. It never made sense to me where all the hate & criticism comes from.

I do kind of agree that it's wrong for Vitali just to leap frog Sam Peter after all that he's gone through...but the politics of boxing are about as fwocked up as the politics of an actual government.

I have the highest respect for both Vitali & of late Wlad. Always dug on Vitali more than Wlad though...even though Wlad is the more technically sound of the two. I see that now that I've started following him in Vitali's absence.

I truly hope that Vitali can come back & make a statement.

We shall see...but you just have to overlook all the hate & focus on your devotion to your favorite fighter...that's what a fan is...you just have to remember not to go overboard with it. I'm guilty of that meself.
