Default Vitali still dreaming of Lewis

How the Heavyweight division could do with this rematch

"Lennox Lewis is a gentleman and he promised me a rematch. Everybody wants to see the second part of the story.

"I never lost the fight. The doctor allowed him to keep his title, I was ahead on points. I've never fought such a strong fighter but I know I beat Lennox."

Vitali pissed me off endlessly with this crap before he retired... now in light of his coming back out of the blue and still calling Lennox out, it's really almost sad... Vitali strikes me as a more intelligent person then that. Does he really believe there's any chance it will ever happen? Come on....

....Corrie Sanders has done the same thing on a much smaller scale.

Vitali has a right to be pissed #1 His shining moment was ruined by controversy (much like Meldrick Taylor-Julio Cesar Chavez) #2 Lennox promised Vitali a rematch and didn't follow through #3 The injuries Vitali has suffered since his loss to Lewis and (even before that) I am sure have made him bitter because he has had so much time wasted in rehab and surgery

Lewis is 42 years old. He was obviously far far out of his prime against Vitali 3 years ago. What would beating Lennox now prove? Vitali had his shot to beat Lennox when it would have actually meant something and he blew it. He should concentrate on the younger HWs.

^So he was ahead when suddenly the skin around his eye said "Fuck this, we've been holding together long enough" and just decided to open up? Lewis sliced him open with the hard right hands he was landing on Vitali's face. Vitali should have protected himself better

It was the side of the glove that caused it, it happens all the time but this time it was just to bad of a cut so the doctor stopped the fight, no fault of Vitali's.

#1 did you watch the fight?

#2 if Vitali plays defense for the rest of the fight two things happen: Vitali loses the fight by decision OR Vitali gets stopped sooner for in the ref and doctor's eyes "being too hurt to fight back"

Vitali was there to win and everyone who watched the fight saw it.....it was a freak cut, I'm not going to explain that again BUT Vitali never waivered he kept at what he was doing because he was working.

I'm not saying he should "play defense" the rest of the right, just stop that right hand from landing on his face so often. I remember them showing the replay of what started the cut, and if I remember correctly it was a right hand. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this was a convincing win for Lewis, but Vitali did get caught, he got cut and blew it. Lennox worked the cut and got the stoppage.

Doctor kept him from bleeding to death is more like it.

It's just hype. He knows better I'm sure. It's like saying "I was winning the fight right up to the 2 knockdowns and the KO that I still don't remember" Maybe a headbutt cut would be different,But this picture shows a sound and thorough thrashin.

Landmine.....you're hating again. Vitali wasn't knocked down, the cut was a freak accident where Lewis threw a good sharp right hand and Vitali leaned back but instead of taking the blow from the FIST he took it from the thumb and inside of the glove.....that caused the cut....and the fact that it was from the thumb (not on purpose of course) and on the eyelid those are the only reasons Vitali was stopped....Lewis TRIED HIS HARDEST to KO Vitali and Vitali took it (during a rest round for him) and he was ready to give it his all in the 7th....too bad it was stopped short by the doctor.

Good stoppage or not this is a FACT LENNOX WAS THE ONE CALLING FOR THE END OF THE FIGHT....and he was doing so because he knew he was out of energy and couldn't withstand Vitali's offensive output

I don't see it like that.. It wasn't a freak accident, Lewis landed some great right hands early in the fight... What your saying would be no different that had he leaned back an inch further, the punch clipped his chin, and he was KOed.. It's really no different. You can call it a freak, or lucky, shot(cuz everyone knows Lennox couldn't actually punch hard ) But the fact is, it was a hard punch, that landed on a tough spot for Vitali. Im sure his goal wasn't to slip the big right hand so it would miss his chin and rip his eye half out of it's socket, he was more likely trying to avoid it from connecting at all, don't ya think Lyle??

I will say that Vitali was 1 solid punch away from stopping Lennox and was ahead on points....

With that said in the end Lennox won the fight.....
