I'd pick Tony as well, only seen a knockout highlights clip on youtube but he looks pretty formidable think his opponnets ear got ripped off or somet in one stoppage. Williams looks like he needs s bit more time before going in with the big boys, they were calling him the next Tommy H an stuff on sky but he's a hell of a way of to go before you can even begin to compare.

Naaaa....Tony will take care of Cotto after Williams.Cotto is the tougher fight, the better fighter but Margarito has been a wrecking machine at 147 and the pace he would set for Cotto would be too much. As for Williams,Tony is too savvy for him,and although Paul is the ONLY fighter who can match Tony's output,Tony has been waiting for this for a LONG LONG time,he will be highly motivated, places his punches better and I believe has more power than Paul. And he has fought better fighters than Williams too.

Again.....out go the "Tony ducking ~(insert name)" bullshit I always seem to hear...

Yes your right.. What with Floyd fighting Baldomir then DLH instead of Tony, Margarito is now making him look silly by taking on two fighters who are so superior to those two. Right?

That isn't to say Tony doesn't deserve credit for fighting Williams if it does come off. I didn't think he wanted to risk the Cotto fight like that, but I guess he probably figures 1.25 million to fight Paul is not that much less than he would probably get vs Cotto, if at all... And he would definetly up his profile going in if he beats Williams. Honestly though, Im not sure he will beat Williams, and I definetly think Cotto will beat him. Don't try and rile Mayweather fans too hard about this, you might look worse in the end, when Tony loses.

Completely disagree. Margarito has been a wrecking machine against the opposition that he has faced...not at 147. Margarito's never faced anyone that's as hard of a body puncher as Cotto & the pace that N'dou kept with Cotto was quite a pace.

I don't see him doing any better than that. Cotto's a hell of a lot more dynamic than Margarito. Look at Margarito's last fight...he lucked out there. Cotto would be too much for Margarito, IWO.

As far as Williams goes...I believe that he has more power than Paul Williams...but I don't know that he'll be able to keep up with Williams if he catches the upper hand. I still think that in the end...it'll be ring experience & it's going to hamper Williams quite a bit.

I could be wrong...he could shock me & blast Margarito out...but I don't see it.

Silent? About what? Mayweather fans have never been silent nor had a reason to.

Oscar is the fight that Floyd & the majority of his fans have often wanted to see...that or Mosley...not Margarito.

Let Cotto & Williams have Margarito. Those fights would be half ass competitive for Margarito.

Floyd presses him like a part of cotton slacks.

Way off Wack,to compare the pace Ndou kept to the pace Tony keeps is a terrible analogy. Tony throws power punch after power punch,he's a tornado of power punches. Although he showed his versatility v the bigger banger,Cintron where he was more selective. And TOny's much bigger than Cotto too. And Tony has been at 147 most of his life and wrecked opponents.

And there's no such thing as "luck",come on dude, thats ridiculous..what luck was there? Tony was injured too and I don't remember Clottey saying Tony was lucky. Oh yeah,Tony was "injured" to duck Williams

Tony looked AWFUL v Clottey but he showed heart, determination and grit and when you open the history books,it won't say anything about luck,it'll say Margarito with a W over Clottey(Someone else he was ducking )

Cotto is far more dynamic than Tony but then again,so are most of Margarito's opponents but he takes their hearts, outworks them, shows unmatched toughness.

Yeah,we'll see where Floyd goes after he beats Oscar, especially if Collazo beats Shane.

Seriously though...he stands a better chance of beating Williams than Cotto. Williams (while fun to watch & hits like a mule kicks) is like an open book compared to Cotto.

I'd pick Margarito over Williams due to the experience factor & the fact that he'll come out trying to make a statement by knocking Margarito out & it'll cost him...but I still like Williams better.
you're starting to sound like Starr & PGH, when you say 1 outcome and end your post with "But I like so and so better"
    (I know what you meant)
And I agree Tonys chances are better against Paul then Cotto.

Williams isn't ready for Margarito. Margarito is going to win this easy and then rehype himself just like he did for Cintron. I'd respect him more for fighting Cotto.

    - that's way off in itself Gamo.. Why isn't it a fair analogy?? N'dou is a relentless puncher just like you describe your boy. He's smaller no doubt, but that was Cotto a couple years ago who fought him, to say he hasn't improved or bulked up is ridiculous.. All Wacko brought that up for, I think, was to indicate that Cotto has gone 12 very hard rounds before, it's not like it would be foreign ground for him...

And there's no such thing as "luck",come on dude, thats ridiculous..what luck was there? Tony was injured too and I don't remember Clottey saying Tony was lucky. Oh yeah,Tony was "injured" to duck Williams

    - Ok, maybe you can't call it luck, but answer me, do you think that if Clottey hadn't injured his hand Tony would have won that fight? Do you think it's reasonable to expect Cotto to break his hand against him? Not unless he breaks tony's face along with it.

Tony looked AWFUL v Clottey but he showed heart, determination and grit and when you open the history books,it won't say anything about luck,it'll say Margarito with a W over Clottey(Someone else he was ducking )

    - That I'll agree with 100%. Especially the Tony looking awful part.

Cotto is far more dynamic than Tony but then again,so are most of Margarito's opponents but he takes their hearts, outworks them, shows unmatched toughness.

    - None of Tony's opponents save for perhaps a couple have been dynamic at all, much less moreso than him.. Least imo. Maybe Im forgetting some of these guys on Cotto's level that he's fought.

Yeah,we'll see where Floyd goes after he beats Oscar, especially if Collazo beats Shane.

    - Either way it won't be wasting his time on a guy who just got beaten to a pulp by Miguel Cotto.

I like the fact that he may be fighting Williams. It shows that he is a serious fighter who doesn't want to be remembered for ducking anyone but I also like it because I'm really curious to see what Paul is made of. As far as a Cotto fight goes, I think Cotto wins. Although Tony has a great chin, that not gonna help him when he's getting pounded to the body. Tony has an unrivaled workrate as well, but again, the body shots will slow that down IMO. I'm not saying he can't beat Cotto but I am saying that I don't think he will. I agree with El Gamo too about Tony taking guys' hearts aaway with his workrate but From what I've seen out of Cotto, I don't think anything in the ring is gonna scare or discourage him.

Alot of good points on the thread though. Keep up the good work.

    Mick & Gamo...cool your jet's.

You girls always expect me to just sit there & take all your critique of Mayweather & not get all broken up over it...& when I start pulling Gamo's chain (which is what I was doing :P ) you get your pannies tied up around your ankles.

    Just playing girls.

Here's the thing...I weren't fwockin about regarding Cotto. Cotto will beat him & the pace that Cotto was taken to with N'dou proves that he can sustain a batter such as that.
