I really don't know... I think Hearns would easily outbox Dela Hoya, but Dela Hoya has a very good chin, and he easily has the power to KO Hearns especially later on when Hearns starts to get tired, and Dela Hoya has the heart to do it, but I favor Hearns here, and I believe he wins 8 out of 10 times. Dela Hoya is good, but he was never as good as the best.

Tommy within about 3.. I dunno.. Its too hard to say..
I mean .. No disrespect to de la hoya on the topic.. he's a great fighter..
Im not disrespecting oscar..Just focusing the respect more towards tommy...
Both excellent boxers..But tommy is definately in my top three hardest hitting welterweights..If not top..
They could box for as long as de la hoya could keep tommy off him and oscar still couldnt win all the rounds..Plus with tommy bieng so tall.. he'd be bound to land a right hand and then just lights out..
But cc.. What a great fight it would be..

hearns wins by a KO i reckon. he was a freak at welter weight and packed a hell of a right hand.

This is a tough one, De La Hoya can take it and Tommy couldn't. Tommy has more power but i say De La Hoya gets in first. Middle rounds stoppage.

Oscar is a fine boxer, but Hearns was too. This is important because I don't think Oscar would want to get anywhere near Hearns' power. I think Oscar's best chance would be to box him, wait for Hearns to tire (which was his biggest weakness at 147), and then out point him and/or catch him with something big. Out of most of the hypothetical matchups for Oscar, I think that this is probably one of the worst.

I don't think Oscar could get to him in time. Eventually Hearns' right hand would fall out of the sky, probably sooner rather than later, and the whole thing would be over. I'd have to say Hearns by KO.

Someone said Oscar has a good chin, I am not too sure. Whenever Quartey hit him he didn't respond well. Fact is Oscar is a good defensive fighter. To get close to him you have to be open to the left hook counter and most guys do not want that. But Hearns had the jab and right hand and I think he would have tested Oscar's chin and probably knocked him out in round 6 or so. In a way Oscar's jab would have kept Hearns away and in that way, Hearns wouldn't have just rushed in and made a mistake. I think Hearns would have jabbed also and then dropped in the right hand. Oscar never really beat the top top guys. And Hearns lost to his top guys also Leonard and Hagler, but Hearns beat Cueves, Duran and Benitez and Hill. The fight is up to Hearns. If Hearns fights safe and keeps Oscar at the end of the jab and then counters when Oscar gets swelled up he wins no problem. But Hearns would have to wait to land the right so Oscar is more tired so he wouldn't counter with that left hook. But Hearns by 6th round KO.

I you could guarantee me that ODLH doesn't get a clean hit on Tommy's chin then I would go with Tommy every time...but since that is an impossibility I think Tommy beats ODLH 7-8 out of 10 times. In a one fight deal I would still go with Tommy via KO inside of 5.
It feels good to be back home.

My thinking is that Floyd is one of the smartest fighters to ever live. Smart guy. And I know he saw Bernard land that bodyshot. One bodyshot. You think Floyd can hit that spot?

Hearns wins rather easily in my opinion. His long jab would give Oscar fits.

Since Hearns' right hand was so good, it's easy to forget how skilled of a boxer he was. He dominated most of the two fights he had with Ray Leonard. He was way ahead in the first fight when he ran out of gas and got TKO'd, and he got robbed in their second fight that ended in a draw.

His big weakness was his chin, but Oscar's always been more of a body puncher, I'm not sure if he has the firepower to hurt Hearns upstairs.

I am a fan of DLH and IMO he is a good boxer and will go down as an all time great...How could he not??...Thoug he seems to have a bit of trouble with the elite...Mosley,,Trinidad ect....DLH has a decent chin also,,,Though he was down in a few fights he was never truly hurt in a dangerous way...The B-HOP stoppage was more due to the fact DLH was blown up and not big enough...He was soft in the middle...And there is no shame in getting stoped by Hopkins...Now with that being said...

Tommy could box with the best of them when need be...he preferred to fight but his boxing skills were top notch ask Ray Leonard....Also Tommy was FAST!!!!...That right hand would come out of no where and it came HARD!!...Tommy had a bit of a suspect chin but then again look at the men he was KO'd by in his prime..Leonard ( whos power was vastly underatted and it took almost the whole fight to get the job done) Hagler,,I don't think there is any reason to even comment on Marvin he was is and always will be one of the most dangerous fighters to ever grace the ring in any division...
the others like Barkley were later on as Tommy was moving up and past his best days as welter and arrival at Middleweight...

I think the fight starts out with a furious pace with both getting their licks in then Tommy takes over with the jab and boxes on his toes in about the 4th...by the 7th it is over...He lands a couple of straight rights and DLH finds out what it is like to truly be KO'd....Or he can avoid the whole disaster and ask Duran if it is worth the chance?

Oscar is a very very good fighter, but Hearns was a genetic freak of nature. Too fast, too tall, too rangy and his right hand would detonate on Oscar at some point over twelve rounds. This fight has an air of inevitability around it, I'm afraid.

If the Hitman could knock out a prime Duran, imagine what he would do to Oscar
