Default Trash Talking is beginning to Wear Thin IMO

After listening to the bile-inducing stuff coming out of PBF, Toney and Brigg's mouth, I'm growing weary of this feigned hyperbole. It's getting old. What do you think?

Honestly...if your'e going to call names...you gotta point the finger all around the board.

Hatton, Margarito, Williams, & many others talk just as much shit as the above names...but yes it does get old. As much as I love Floyd in the ring, I hate him twice as much outside of the ring.

I like trash-talking, it's part of the game, part of the entertainment.

The only words out of a fighter's mouth that bother me are when a guy gets soundly beaten and refuses to admit it in the postfight interviews. That's a pet peeve of mine.

A recent example of this would be when Toney was clearly beaten by Peter in the rematch, and refused to acknowledge that he was beaten.

I love all the trash talking! These fights won't sell themselves (unless Gatti is in them) and fighters have to hype up themselves, and the paying public.

I mean take the De La Hoya Mayorga fight, Mayorga calling Oscar a queer and telling him he was hoping to detach his eye retinas.

Then in the fight Oscar battered the living shit out of the mouthy kunt and the world went crazy!

I was gutted as I was rooting for El Matador but you couldn't fault the quality of the smack talk, the entertainment value or the beatdown Oscar gave out.

To me that fight showcased boxing at it's finest.

I mean the whole sport is based on two guys beating the living crap out each other. It seems almost absurd to expect them to do it nicely and with good manners....

Press conference trash talk I enjoy.

    I don't like "I'm-a-guest-on-Friday-Night-Fights" trash talk.

It's a part of boxing. A good part. What you rather they hold hands and tell each how great they think each other is?

I know there must be a Valuev reference in this post somewhere but I can't see it. Are you writing subliminals now?

It fepends on who is doing it...for some guys like Mayweather, Briggs it is annoying...why?...they are not good at it....Their trash talk sound more like self praise......Guys like Mayorga, Toney, I love their trash talk because it is not about how great they are but the fight itself....

Yeh but sometimes a fighter uses trash talk as a method of selling tickets......perhaps because they have a boring fighting style. Some fighters just like digging their own grave! i.e. Ricardo Mayorga
