Default How does one become a boxing manager?

If I wanna go pro, how does a friend become a boxing manager. I think I am ready, I am a defending back to back golden gloves regional champ from Texas. What does my friend need to do? jorodpip@yahoo.com

I would start with the state boxing commision, I would think everything boxing related would run through them at some point. At the very least they could point you in the right direction.

I know my other options, but what would my friend have to do to be my manager?

Get you boxing gigs manage your career, negotiate on your behalf and so on .

I would recommend doing it correct from the start with a professional manager / promoter that is already cemented in the field of boxing . If you are a quality fighter and have a good amateur background, you owe it yourself to make the best of it and do it right. I would go interview several guys and see what they can do for you. I have heard great things about Lester Bedford, that’s why I suggested him. He did a fantastic job with James Leija as his manager and promoter , and he has put together well over 100 quality boxing matches in the state of Texas . Bedford has working ties with companies such as Goldenboy promotions and so on. Set up an interview mate . See what he and other managers can do for you.
