While I do not agree or support Morrison getting back into the ring due to health issues all around the board...good for him on the win.

I don't believe the stuff about the false negative aids thing..
If he had a false negative. he would have been retested 10 times..
If he wasn't advised to do so he would have the biggest (and easiest)malpractice suit in American justice history and wouldn't be worrying about boxing...This whole thing smells... worse... than Valuev's breath!
Maybe he just quit boxing because he became a crack head?!

There are many many documented cases of H.I.V. going into remission...but that's just it...it's still there...fwock alla that "false negative" shit.

If he had it...then he did & still does.

It's just too risky of a thing to be hiding & so easily released from a cut or a butt or whatever.

Tommy Morrison was in his hotel room, talking about life, love and Mike Tyson when he suddenly grew silent for a couple of seconds.

"Sorry," he said, "I was just watching myself on the news."

The news on this day, in the hamlet of Chester, W. Va., was positive. Morrison was ready to return to the ring for the first time in 11 years, eager to resume his former career as a heavyweight fighter.

Even more important was what was negative. He had taken several HIV tests, Morrison said, and they showed no trace of the virus that causes AIDS.

Gone, just like the last 11 years of his life.

"The bottom line is we passed every test on the market, even one they don't have on the market," Morrison said. "That tells me it was never there."

He's 38 now, with nothing left to lose.

The wife, the kids, and the house are all gone. So is the $16 million he earned in the ring, and the manager he claims took a big portion of it.

He's in a hotel room far from the glittering lights of the Las Vegas Strip, a new fiance at his side and what he says is a new lease on his life. He fights Thursday night in a scheduled four-rounder for a few hundred dollars, hoping it will lead to a contract for bigger fights with promoter Bob Arum.

He's been training seriously for a few months now. He believes he can win the heavyweight title, believes he can be bigger than ever.

"I was one of the most popular fighters of my era," Morrison says. "I believe this time around it will be even bigger."

The day before the fight he talked about the time he spent in prison, including 125 days of solitary confinement, the drugs he took, and the ones he refused to take for a disease he now claims he never had.

He wants this to be about what is ahead. But he realizes people will pay attention only because of what is behind.

"It's such a positive story, I don't know why people are not behind it," Morrison said. "It's not like Anna Nicole Smith or Britney Spears, tragic things that sell. This is a positive story, a good story."

I watched the thing on Vs. network. But for some reason they were not allowed to show the fight, instead only still pictures of the fight. The guy Morrison fought only had 6 pro fights. He was like 4-2 I think. The commentators said that the guy had won the first round and was winning the second round until Tommy caught him with a left hook. The guy got up but the fight was waved off by the ref. The commentators said it looked like a bit of a quick stoppage. Morrison was breathing very heavily after the fight in the interview, and admitted to being nervous having not fought in front of a crowd in 11 years. He said he hopes to be back to what he once was in 6 months.

Wow. That's one hell of a layoff. Hope he really is HIV-. Hope he does well.

I wish him all the best, anyone got a video of the fight? Havent seen it yet but even if he cant win a title again now he deserves to make some decent money after being robbed of his career like that. Hope he gets a couple of big fights at least.

Crazy stuff i cant see this comeback lasting that long, fair play to Tommy I used to like him, but it looks as though age and drinking and drugs have caught up with him by them pics, but who am I to stop a man making a $.
