cc One of the best Floyd posts I've read yet
I don't know where all these "Floyd just runs from his opponents!" arguments come from.Especially in a lot of his recent fights, Floyd has been doing more and more standing and inside fighting. Anyone's who has seen his career knows he doesn't run. It makes sense for him to be a runner with his speed and defense, but he doesn't do it. He DOES go toe to toe.
If his detractors are saying he should go toe to toe ie. completely without guard, why would he do that? Just because he isn't getting hit doesn't mean he isn't standing and fighting
Thanks for the cc I agree with you that Floyd DOES go toe to toe in many of his fights.
The only times recently he's adopted a cautious approach was against Baldimor, and considering Baldimor walks around at 190 lb and Floyd knew his destiny fight with De La Hoya was there for him as long as won he did the sensible thing, stay out of trouble, get an easy win, but still dominate your opponent and set yourself up for the mega fight next time.
If anyone was to blame for the lacklustre Baldi fight it was Carlos himself. He was the champion, the guy holding the belt, if he had wanted to keep it he should have shown more passion and actually tried to fight.
Floyd did exactly what was required of him.
I can't see how anyone who has actually watched all of Floyd's fight could possibly say he was boring, cowardly or a runner. He's an awesome fighter to watch.
