Me personally,I think punching is to do with 2 things:

technique- being able to put the WHOLE BODY into the punch, the hip,the shoulders, the legs turning the body,1 fluid motion but with snap,a kind of twitch. I'm not sure AdamGB(the main man) or Scrap(the other main man) but I always think that there is a common misconception that the power of punch comes from merely the arms, therefore people tend to work their arms thinking that they are developing more power(I could be wrong)

speed-speed kills. I'd rather be a small fast man than a big slow strong man. The big slow strong man may throw a rock at you,but you can use your speed and dodge it and with that same speed, you can throw something back. Defence and offence in one motion.

As you can see,I don't really know what I am talking about but errrr. hope this helps.
well ur right and wrong tito had god given power its always god given fcourse u could lifet weights and etc and gain power and harder punch but tito types are god given strength plus good ability

The secret is the Technique with speed keep your shots inside your knees so the knees are working in line with the feet and .It makeks the achillies work as they should with the achillies supple and stretched dont reach your taking weight[ power ] of the back foot and lose the most important thing you reqiure for power gravity

For starters, punching power is not something that is the same with every punch. Its possible to have a good right but a bad left and so on. Ultimately it is technique that produces power as power is the act of moving weight meaning that to reach one's maximum potential he must be able to move this weight as efficiently as possible. So you should be asking yourself how good is my technique? I recommend looking at grey's old posts on the subject. I used to argue with him on the placement of the feet but after some thinking I realize that he was actually right. You hear that Grey? You were right.

I'll leave you with this: you can tell if you're throwing the left hook correctly if it comes off naturally explosive after your right hand.

I've read, to develop a good power, is to hit the bag as hard as you can every time you get on it, no sissy

slaps are good in a fight so why slack on the bag<your only as good as your training>. Hit the Bag hard as

if to put a hole in it! you'll get used to hitting hard and you wind will be a lot better being that it takes a

lot to throw all hard punches.

actually a hard punch is thrown with ease, from a relaxed state.. Technique in the main factor , and controlled breathing. winding up all tense will only result in a punch that is not as effective , also you will find yourself spent early in a match.

There's a lot that goes into the development of power. Most of it has to do with getting set for the punch.

Now I'd have said the same thing as Lords Gym, you're only going to waste energy if you put all your energy into your punches. On top of that you're going to become prone to counters.

Just keep practicing on the heavy bag. Also try to work your shoulder muscles (I like doing shoulder shrugs and shoulder laterals)

technique is very important: i never said you need to be tensed; you need to be relaxed and in control so

you dont find yourself in a bad situation, but look at tyson he was very fast with the kind of power he

had; And is technique was very good, you can't tell me he didnt attack the bag like that

I don't consider myself a big puncher but i do use speed to generate my power, and also timing with my counter shots. Also IMO 3 of the most important things when throwing hard punches are Hips, Shoulders, Feet. When im jabbing which is my best weapon i always throw it like a whip and that generates the most power for me when i jab, but like i said im not a hard puncher but i am quick puncher and thats how i generate the power anyways.

I do understand and agree that largely technique has a lot to do with power. I have noticed now though with my recent change in workouts, the focus on training hard in both cardio and weight lifting, that my power has increased A LOT. I'm thinking also it is because I am developing physically for my age, as part of a natural growth spurt, but it has been striking, the difference, and just in the last month. Whereas good connections when sparring not long ago were snapping the head back...now they are drawing blood, regularly.

I do wonder though, and maybe it is in my head. I feel as though I may be losing some of my speed. Anyone think this could be a trade off?
