    Default Joe Calzaghe

This is a short post on Calzaghe , ive been thinking ( and i have to say ive never really liked him ) he had top amateur carear in Britain and ABA champ at 3 weights. Won th WBO title in 1997 , but i cant help think wot a waste making all those defences most against average opposition.
He always talks of big fights and legend status but i mean hes now mid thirties and hasn't had any big fights in USA.
Roy Jones and Toney used the supermiddles and then moved up to win and gain recognition world wide , i think Calzaghe and Warren are trying to protect his unbeaten record , but to retire unbeaten wont mean a thing to the American experts , as Toney has proved if u loose just get back in the ring and fight some more , he lost to Montell Griffin and nobody thinks he is better than Toney.
So all in all i think it is now to late for Joe to make the all time great list , although he is a good fighter i think with his age he now can never prove to us all how good he cud have been.

PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR VIEWS CHAPS ?
PS. I PERSONALLY THINK JOE IS OVER RATED , BUT THATS JUST MY OPINION.

Joe is overated for the fact he has'nt proved to us he is'nt out of 19 defences he has only fought 6 decent names i do think he is protecting his unbeaten record and even if he manages to retire unbeaten if he has'nt fought any top lively names it won't mean alot. He's gunna be 35 this month he has'nt got long left to prove himself he can't live off the Lacy win forever one major fight in fourty odd fights is'nt good enough.

The man who turned up and beat the then RED HOT Jeff Lacy is overated without taking without taking anything in return is overated ?

    Aye ?

Anyone who knows Joe knows he has bollocks bigger than Wales he'd walk to New York ( no swim ) to fight any of the so called top contenders

Joe has had injuries but i know he ooozes confidence and self belief like no fighter out there !

Comparing him to James Toney the laziest waste of talent of the last 15
    years .

    You are having a laugh

I am sorry are you Joe Calzaghe? Or Frank Warren??.....

At superMiddleweight James Toney would have gave Calzaghe a beatdown that would have given him a permenant studder....Don't confuse thise heavyweight version of James Toney to that of the Super middleweight version....Two comletely different fighters...

Only Roy Jones was able to beat that version.....

And if you even attempt to put Joe Calzaghe anywhere near the super middleweight version of Roy Jones I suggest you enter a 28 day program to sober up

i think joe is a very good fighter but he hasnt really given the fans the best fights available for one reason or another. yeah injuries will hold you back there has to be more to it than that. he is very exciting to watch but i just want to see him in another super fight.

A supermiddle Toney Joe would'nt stand a chance yes Jones beat him but that was a weight drained Toney Toney asked for him at light heavy but Jones did'nt want him Joe would'nt even beat a prime Eubank the type of Eubank who Fought Benn while swallowing his own blood with a split tongue if he had come along when their was Eubank,Benn,Collins,Toney,Jones we would'nt even be talking about Joe Calzaghe because he would'nt even beat any of them at there best

I dont think Calzaghe is overrated. We only see the best of JC when he steps up against top fighters which unfortunatley is'nt that often. He is only fighting Manfredo because Frank Warren is trying to please the US, other wise i recon he would be fighting Kessler and thats what most people would rather see.

A patronising post, backed up by very little. I politely disagree with the main bulk of this posting.

I don't think he would beat the Eubank who beat Benn the leather he took in that fight was unreal swallowing his own blood but he just kept coming after Benn he would'nt be denied Calzaghe is overated because he has'nt given us the fans anything to think oterwise. Eubank went down hill after the Watson fight he held back after that

Just seemed like a case of "here is my opinion go and deal with it, oh, and I will patronise you while im at it". An opinion is far from a fact and for an opinion to come anywhere close to fact needs to be supported with some good arguments. All utterly lacking here. Hate to be rude, Daxx...I usually like your posts, but this one sent me a little cold.
