    Default Berrio in Calzaghe sights

According to Gareth A. Davies from Telegraph.co.uk, Berrio could be seen as a possible future opponent for unbeaten World Boxing Organisation world champion Joe Calzaghe.

I thought that Calzaghe wanted big American names?? Why take on Berrio and not Mikkel Kessler?....?

Because fighting Kessler would mean to actually please the boxing world by putting on evenly matched and meaningful fights.

If he goes after Berrio I will give up on him but I don't think he will.

The last thing us Brits need is for our other premier fighter to start vacating belts only to win them back against nobodies for fun.

Oh! I hope Joe does face Berrio that way Berrio can tap that chin....

    And down goes Joe.....

(Berrio has a punchers chance but it'll be good to see Joe take some puches)

I see Andrade as a tougher assignment than Manfredo! Calzaghe must fight Kessler next unless he gets the winner of Wright/ Hopkins or Taylor. If Calzaghe plans to stay at 168 then Kessler should be next in his sights!

When - and why - should Kessler have fought Berrio?
I haven't seen Berrio rated high by WBA or WBC, where Kessler is champ. Neither rated higly in independent rankings.
Not that Berrio is way below the level of other available opponents - but there was just no particular reason to let him jump the line at the expense of say Andrade.

Kessler-Berrio MIGHT happen now that Berrio has one of the belts Kessler is collecting. But really i expect TV rights to turn any negotiations between Palle and Saurland saur. Palle would want to make it PPV in Denmark - and that's just not possible if it's shown on german ARD (free) as Saurland would want. Because of that the fight can't generate the kind of money both sides will expect to make.

    Should know better then that.....
Berrio just won the title how can Kessler face him if Kesslers set to fight Andrade?

Can't believe you tried to take that route....

Yea look at Berrio's record he has mainly stoppage losses on his record so he fits the Calzaghe bill perfectly !!!!!!!!!
As i said Joe is a waste of talent, shut up and put up with the elite Joe and kick Warren into touch

What is a life contract? Until you are 65? Doesnt a contract have standards of provision? If its disagreed with can it not be broken? Can it not be challenged if the subject chooses to disagree? It sounds tantamount to slavery otherwise!! Or else a very poorly thought out contract on the part of Calzaghe!

It was just a few lines in an article i read about calzaghe ebfore, about how his first promoter got him nowhere and how warren got him on tv and title shots so fast - it went on to meniton he signed a life contract with him, i asume as long as he fights warren is his promoter, i don't know of any clauses in it. the article read could be wrong of course... but it would sure as hell explain a lot.

I just dont understand why anyone would sign a "life contract" though. It almost sounds like a death sentence!!

We dont know the ins and outs....im sure a lot is a lot more than we will know while Joe is still fighting...
