I'm not trying to dis Mike Tyson but his experiences out of his prime showed more of his flaws and his troubles with certain styles than his prime years....not because HIS skill level deteriorated so much but it was more of a case of his opponents were better....Holyfield, Lewis, Rudduck, Golota......those guys were FAR better than anyone Tyson had fought before then and that's just a FACT. |
Lyle good point (as i have seen this point made in arguements before.
However, i believe the size "factor" plays a decent role when both fighters have similar styles.Typically, a banger, will be shorter than your "jabber" because thats what he has to be with the height he has. If tyson was 6'4, 6'5 im not to sure you would of seen the Peak-a-boo style we knew tyson for. So to say tyson wouldnt have the advantage over marciano because of size is a bit premature (IMO). Now,this arguement is difficult for me to give my opinion on, for 1, i love both fighters. But if i have to put tysons best performance against marciano's best performance.... id have to say tyson would have a slight edge. even though marciano was a tough S O B, i aint seen many guys who fought for years, scared to fight an 18 year old. Its hard to think of tyson in his prime, because it was happen so quick. But he was devastating.
