Default Scoring was dreadfull! Good fight. Barrera should learn.

I know im like a week late with this but seriously, 111-116? Eh?! 118-109 WTF!!! Thats just upsetting?

It was a good fight though, technical match up that heated up gradually!
Barrera fought a good one... Better than i actually thought he would. However, im still disappointed in Barrera.
Based on what he was actually trying to do on the night, Barrera just wasn't using his tools enough. He was doing good... actaully great things with his left but IMO he almost totally neglected his right when it mattered (ironic, given the nature of the KD).

Plus at times, he thought about things too much, admired his work (and subsequently got hammered) when ever he did something right (in terms of out witting the counter-puncher)....
I dunno, he had the elements there for a winning fight, but just didn't piece it all together the right way.

Im hoping he sees that Marquez was definately beatable that night and sees sense in asking for a rematch. (Although i do understand that a 2nd fight with Pacquaio is somewhere near unresistable now) .

With that being said, i knew Marquez would win... but its like "knowing" your gonna fail your driving test and then failing for something really stupid.

You end up with the feeling you'll get it right next time for sure *

Open scoring would of been good that night in all 3 of the main fights.

    open scoring bad.

It is difficult to guess where this will go as Barrera has said two fights and he's out JMM then Pac was the plan. He's stated he promised his son not to fight on for longer. He may want the rematch then Pac then retire. He may decide he's had enough of the bs and call it quits sooner. Best laid plans and all that. If he fights on in September, Saddo can you set us up with press credentials?

I'll be amazed if Barrera ever gets in a ring with Pac again. Doesn't matter how much doughs on offer all he has to look forward to is a serious beating and he's smart enough to know it

If he didn't find that brilliant punch in the 7th I highly doubt he'd of heard the final bell.

    Yeah talk about timming
Mind you, he should of found it from the start... I could see it landing from the 1st exchanges.

I don't think the right hand was there like it was in the seventh, Marquez came from the WAY outside on that one with the right hand lead and that's what did him in on that punch. It looked just like when Baldomir hit Judah in their seventh round. It was just a case of Marquez getting overexcited.

And I thought MAB fought a great fight. I thought he did enough to win the fight. He looked tremendous in there, no mistakes on his part and Marquez had the power to make him pay. It was a bit troubling for a MAB fan to see him fall on his backfoot like he did in the 7th round, but he kept his cool and came back swinging. I thought his increased emphasis on defense was crucial for the fight and he controlled the first half of the fight almost completely. He may not have won every round but he was making Marquez miss with everything and coming back when he needed to.

That was just a great mistake free fight, something we very rarely see in boxing now. So many times do we call on other fighters to exploit the weaknesses of the guy in front of them, but these two had no weaknesses. The styles mixed beautifully and we all got a lesson of the science. The extremely lopsided scoring put a bit of a bad taste in my mouth but that was an awesome fight. I want a rematch between the two before either thinks about Pac.

That was a fairly special shot though. I didn't think id see Marquez on the floor.

But there was times, (for intance, when Marquez was almost casually jabing up and down) when a right hand over the top would of served well.

Shit, sorry Amat, missed your double-up.

Yeah i definately wanna see a rematch, if only just to get a more respectable scoring.

I agree about the scores. I had Barrera ahead by one point like Lederman did actually going into the decision, but I also knew that a score that close would almost definitely be awarding the fight to Marquez. Boxing seems to have a way of "robbing" a fighter and then "paying him back" when it comes to unjust decisions. Marquez is a super good fighter that has not been allowed the spotlight as much as many of the other marquee names and was robbed in the Pacquiao fight, so I assumed Barrera had to really close the show and pull out all the stops. For the first few rounds, he did. Then Marquez got him in trouble in the 7th and Barrera got that beautiful knockdown by surprise. Then wtf? Why did he go ahead and slug dude in his head while he was down on all fours? That was really a dumb idea, it cost him a point and then Nady didnt score the knockdown. Even with those penalties, I don't see how the judges scorecards reflected that fight in any way. 118-109 and 111-116 are indicative of how Winky Wright shut out Trinidad years back. I saw this fight as being much, much closer. Judges have been irritating me lately.

Open scoring would have done well in a fight like THAT!
