He knows he's not fighting Mora or Spina or Pemberton... He and Freddie(Fortune) are smarter then having the kid stand in front of Joe... It would be a Lacy repeat... Sitting there like an idiot with one hand cocked back!Originally Posted by Majesty

I really don't think it's going to matter how well Manfredo has trained. He and Calzaghe aren't even the same species of fighter-- it'll be like fighting a swarm of bees. The only thing you can manage is to flee as they sting you at will. Manfredo's two journeys at SMW are not good prep for Calzaghe.Originally Posted by "PRIDE OF BOSTON"

I dont think Manfredo has a chance on his best day and on Joe's worst. These two are just not in the same league. He will look similar to Bravo when he fought Berto recently and got flat out worked. The only old fashioned Rhode Island ass kicking is gonna be the one Joe C. puts on the Rhode Island Reality Show Runner Up...or maybe the one Peter Griffin put on that damn chicken that keeps showing up on Family Guy. To quote my room mate, Manfredo has lost to Sergio Mora twice. Sergio Mora is trash. Now they are putting him in the ring with an actual seasoned accomplished legitimate champion who has not lost in what, 10 years about? That's cool you got Boston/Rhode Island pride, but I think that is what is speaking here...and it is drowning out your common sense. There will be no upset or hope of a victory for Manfredo on April 7. He will be a stepping stone and an easy win aimed to pad Joe's record and get him one step closer to breaking Hopkins' record of title defenses.Originally Posted by "PRIDE OF BOSTON"
I can't let my Boston brother carry the torch for Peter alone. I'm not giving Pete a 30% chance. I'm not sure I'm giving him a 10% chance...no I'm giving him a 10% chance. His chance is that Joe breaks a hand or two Seriously.Originally Posted by diamonddavestafford
You bring up the Mora fight...I just don't give that much weight. In the first fight, you had a weight drained 12 round fighter against an awkward and fast Mora. Peter never got hurt, he just got outworked. The second fight was pure home-cookin' for Mora. I've watch that fight TRYING to give rounds to Mora, and he gets a maximum of 3. On my card he got one or two.
Why would you think he will get blowin out like Bravo against Berto? Manfredo has never been down. He rarely gets hurt. He has defensive skills and he can counterpunch. He's much stronger now than he ever has been. The kid is a fighter. Although he doesn't have the power or strength of Lacy, he has 10x the skills of Lacy. Lacy came out and tried to take Joe's head off. That was his plan A,B, and C. He played right into Joe's strenghts and still, Joe didn't stop him.
Peter is going the distance. Joe will likely cruise to a 12round UD. The fight will be entertaining. Manfredo will make some adjustments at some point and land a few nice flurries. He may even steal two rounds and make 2 more kinda close. If Joe breaks his left hand, things could go differently, but I can just don't see Peter getting stopped.

He's going too tcounter. He'll cover up a lot, he'll roll and look to counter, but he won't be able to do enough to make much impact. The one thing that will help a little is his straight right. He's developed a pretty good one, with some nice pop. It's short and it gets there quick. Joe will eat a few before the night is out, but it ain't gonna be enough, I'm afraid. He'll land that straight more than Lacy landed the hook, but that ain't saying much.Originally Posted by Majesty
I agree that Manfredo is in well over his head and on the surface has no chance whatsoever.
HOWEVER, I know that Miles is backing Calzaghe to destroy Manfredo and in case you didn't know Miles is the worst tipster of all time!
Honestly, you would rather have Barry McGuigan backing you than Miles, he has never got a correct pick.
You could clearly see the 'Miles' effect during the Barrera Marquez fight. Barrera, Mile's pick fought a great fight but 'Miles Law' meant he could not win, hence terrible judges decision, no knockdown rulings and deducted points for Barrera.
Logically Calzaghe has to win, it's a virtual mathematical certainty, but Miles tipping him to destroy Manfredo is I fear too big a hurdle even for Calzaghe to overcome.
Mate this is a boxing forum, I would have been amazed if anyone had of noticed!Originally Posted by "PRIDE OF BOSTON"
It's clear that even the top boxing judges can't add up to 12, how much less do you think the rank and file of boxing fans can do it?

Barrera won that fight, but no matter how much I howl into the abyss the divine powers always go against me!! Calzaghe will beat Manfredo silly!!!
If he doessnt then im gonna take up croquet!!!
His other attack will be when JC breaks both hands, lol. IMO Manfredo's only shot is to stalk Calzaghe and work the body HARD. I don't think Peter has an answer for Calzaghe's speed, but you know the old saying "kill the body and the head will die." I think that is his only shot. Something Manfredo definately has going for him though is his chin.Originally Posted by Majesty
That being said. Manfredo is gonna have to walk through fire to get anything done.
I'm rooting for Manfredo, but I'm giving him next to nothing of a chance.

I like the way you worded that and I agree completely. I wish I would have said it.
