There's a lot of videos on the net showing Floyd Mayweather training. I can't tell you the particulars such as numbers and the time of day but I can tell you what I'be seen in some of his training footage.

Floyd does alot of the average calisthenics, crunches, leg raises, situp variations, weighted neck raises. He's pretty good at the jumprope but not quite spectacular.

He also does bag work, he looks okay on the speed bag but not greatest at hitting the heavybag. He shadow boxes okay, what's impressive is his mittwork (of course during the public workouts his uncle tries to make him look good) and he's pretty sharp in his sparring (with some exceptions).

His style is really polished although you stands still allowing his opponent in (bad strategy, or absent minded ) To apreciate it you really got to appreciate how he uses his shoulder, he blockes punches with it, and parries them. His shoulder reminds me of James Toney, they both have smart well trained shoulder guards.

Also I should add that often he does his roadwork in the late evening. Check the file sharing section I think they've included a documentary on him, it's pretty good but he's always poking fun at himself and others.

My brother doesnt seem to remember the entire program. But Floyd doesnt really have a "set" training program.Sometimes he spars for 30 minutes straight while sparring partners switch in and out.Roy Jones has a good program if you are interested...because it is pretty hard to follow Floyds in the sense that he is in top shape and has his own philosophy on training sometime seems over the top.

I know a lot of conditioning experts from various sports who say that training longer than the actually contest would be is not good. So in this case, a 4min round isn't as good as a 3min round becasue the brain will respond and subconsciously you'll adjust your intensity to go the extra minute.

if i told you to run 100m, you'd go flat out.
if i told you to run 200m, you'de ease up just a bit so as not to gas.
but if i told you to run 100m and it was actually 200m, you'd go harder than if i had told you it was 200m.

    it's basic human survival instinct.

Intensity is key for stamina. Even marathoners now know the values of interval training and sprints.

You're right there, and it has to be a trained quality. You'll see alotta fighters just take a 30 minute jog or a slow plodding pace on the jumprope, maybe half intensity on the bags and maybe just going through the motions when they shadowbox. Those kind of people don't go far in the sport.

The key to building stamina/endurance to work at your capacity and to build on it. It's important to establish a baseline so you can improve on it.

Even a drawing board like shadowboxing it's not like looking at the clock and saying to yourself "ok, 3 rounds of air punching" You gotta take it seriously and practice different unnatural things until they become apart of you. This applies for learning techniques, increasing your intensity with consistancy of progress, and chaning your attributes and qualities.

I'm looking at the program above and I'm thinking I don't really believe this is his program. It might be one example of one workout he's done but in reality it would be a little more complex than this.

He'd probably does have some days with shorter rounds. Obviously he must spar occasionally. Perhaps they just don't release all their secrets which is why we need to piece together what is most likely to work from whatever information we can get.

Surely it's more beneficial to understand why you'll benefit from a particular program as an individual too rather than copying someone else's program. I learnt recently that my local sports clinic can design specific injury prevention programs for individual athletes.

I once paid a fitness trainer to do one up for me but was dissappointed when he set exercises on machines which did not use fit balls or free weights. His program didn't engage my core or work individual arms/ legs. Nor did it take into account any muscle imbalances/ injuries I am prone to having.

I'm happy to have discovered my physio can set a program for me designed with my individual weak points in mind. It makes me more confident that I'll be able to return to training at a reasonable intensity without injuring myself. If I'd known I could get this done maybe I never would have injured myself to begin with?

Obviously some personal trainers do know their stuff and are very good but at least where I am - amongst all the trainers who did a 6 month TAFE course to get their personal training certificate they can be difficult to find.

I bought a book off amazon.com that details about 25 champion boxers training routines.. It's actually pretty interesting how much the routines vary from boxer to boxer.. To say that any routine is better than the other would be kind of wrong because all of these people were genuine champions and none of them trained the exact same.
Although throughout the book their are a lot of constants as well that generally every boxer incorporates into their routine. Obviously those one's aren't to hard to guess, road work, sparring, jumprope, mitts.

The main point is, every person, boxer, body type, brain is different.
I enjoyed this book mostly because it gave me a lot of different idea's I could try and perhaps work into my routine, but not all of them were right for me.

I think the most imporant part of any successful routine is experimenting and seeing exactly what works for you, what you feel comfortable with, and which you feel you're getting the most out of. And then go with that routine....
To simply seek out and follow a Floyd routine or a RJJ routine or a Tyson routine won't give you that little bit of an edge over your opponents because you train with those champions routines or know their little secret.. I don't think their is any secret.
That little edge comes from you and what you put into ANY routine you adopt. Just take that little bit extra time in finding a routine that works the best for you, and commit 100% of yourself to it, and you'll do a LOT better than anyone who is more occupied with looking for that secret training technique that made Floyd a champion....

That being said though, I can dig up that book if anyone is interested in a list of some of the more interesting training techniques and who used them,, to see if anyone may want to incorporate something new into their routine or change it up a little?....

I've read that book. It's okay, as it's just interesting in itself to know some of the things that they did. However It doesn't offer a lot of insight that makes you say, "I didn't know that."

If you want to find something that works for you, I mean something that is really geared for your body, then you have to go out there and try different things.
