Default Bernard Hopkins Not Against Fighting Holyfield

Hoipkins currently has a July fight scheduled with Winky Wright, but is not against a possible fight with Holyfield at heavyweight. Actually, he told Fernandez that potential fight with Evander would be a huge event.

"You just put a fight together. It'd be two legends going up against one another. It would be a chance for Bernard Hopkins to prove he can hang with a bona fide heavyweight, and one of the greatest of my era," Hopkins said.

"The Klitschkos are too big," Hopkins said. "Sam Peter? Forget it. I would never win. I think he's the best heavyweight in the world right now, and he's huge. I can't fight no giants."

Much props to Hopkins admitting the plain truth.

Atleast he knows his limits...I'm curious to see how far Wright can push them.

i havent seen holyfield's last few fights but from what i read he looked alright. bhop may be able to run and pick shots all night to pinch a decision, but holyfield has still got an awesome chin and i dont htink it would be a good idea ofr bhop to mess at heavy weight. there are plenty of good fights for him at 175.

To be honest i don't know what fighting Holyfield has anything to add to his legacy id rather him fight at 175 or try and win belt at Cruiserweight or have showdown with winner of Calzaghe vs Kessler.

I don't think this fits into Holyfield's plans of being world heavyweight champion. Sorry, Bernardo.

I think Holy can win this quite easily.... Hopkins dosent have that prolific of a workrate anymore and he isint light on his feet, he is not gonna KO Holyfield and I feel Holyfield has enogh in the tank to take it to Hopkins... AT heavy Evander has enough power to floor Hopkins.

Its sad cause Hopkins is trying to be an opportunist and get a good win at Heavy at the expense of Evander Holyfield's name well Bernard is in for a rude awakening if he signs those papers, cause you know Evander dont duck or Fuk around with anyone and will come come to fight and win

I also think its funny that there is NO mention of James Toney..... Bernard knows he would lose quite easily to James at Heavyweight

This is so typical Hopkins and represents his whole carrer. Always extremely selective and avoiding the best fighters. Why fight at HW if he does not want to fight the best?

I would like to see Holyfield revenge that beating he took off Toney if i was Holyfield i would do it now while Toney is on the slide.

A real heart breaker for me watching that fight, worst feeling I ever had since following the sport seeing Evander get beaten like that

I agree and wouldnt be suprised if The fight got made, James would be a legitimate step up in comp for Holy in his come back, and I think injury free and inshape like he is, I think he could out work Toney to a desicion..

How can you say Bernard is not light on his feet? Did you see the Tarver fight or the Taylor fights? He used excellent footwork and was light on his feet.

I think Evander would win easy also. Bernard dont have the work rate anymore to outpoint Evander and he sure cant KO him.

As far as Toney , it would be funny .They are polar opposites as far as being in shape. Judging from Evanders last fight I would give him a chance. Man he looked good, I know it was a bum but he was really accurate, those uppercuts were awesome. You have to remember though Toneys last fight was against possibly the best heavy out there and Evanders was against a nobody. It would be good for Evander to prove he was fighting injured and thats why Toney beat him .
