    Default Regarding Clottey - Corrales..

Im watching the fight right now...
    Just finished the fifth...
And im wondering these things... Corrales..He wants to fight..But how much snap and power does he have at welter..Especially the ridicualous fact that he has struggled to make welter.
And clottey..How much of a contender is clottey.. As of right now..What he has shown against margarito and at least what i have seen so far from him during this fight with corales.. he has to be considered as a big time contender.. These fast powerful combinations, very nice combinations also..
Obv i dont know the result yet.. But win or loose this fight..Just like the margarito fight..These performances can only add to his marketabilty.. He is a very very good fighter

He should have felt out the div. by fighting some top 20 guy... Not Clottey....

Now there is the intangible which is Showtime and would they accept the fighter.....

I just don't see anything there for him anymore....
Let me see if I can find some recognizable name that he might be able to beat in the Welters.

Really. This dude here was putting punches together better then when he fought Margarito he was going up stair and down stairs...

Would love to one day see Williams vs. Clottey...

With that being said it might come off IF Williams beats Margarito....

Cc! The fight has just finished right now...Props to chico for lasting the distance..
But he is done.. He always had a suspect chin..To quote the commentator..He'll never be short of fans
But he is a real fighter and a warrior..The top fighters can be allowed by the fans to take these top 20 fights when they move up and come back..
    But thats him,
Corrales chose clottey, castillo has chose hatton.. Even though he has had a tune up, his tune up was still a young undefeated up and comer, tito fought mayorga.. Thats what these great fighters do

But its true..He struggled to make 147.. No chance of making 140, he'll get killed above 147 i just dont believe his chin can take it..

As of now..Although chico is a class fighter.. If i were in his shoes..I would either hang em up..
OR..Pick one last big fight at welter.. train extremely hard.. and pick his opponent very carefully for one last huge win.. Or..Hope that Jlc looses to hatton and vow to retire after completing the third fight with castillo..

But frankly i cant see the latter happening..I dont think jose luis is done and even if he does loose i can see it bieng an extremely competative fight and the type of fight that could only carry on a great legacy not end it..

But corrales' situation is a tough one!
    Peace

    Heres CC#328 on me...
I pretty much see it the same way as you...
Here are some opponents who I think could be possible fights for him that he might be able to win and against a recognizable name; Gatti, Sharmba, Mathysse, Cosme Rivera and Cintron.

I think Diego needs to hang them up NOW! He's been in wars alllll throughout his career, people only remember him from the first Castillo fight which was like 10 fights in one but Diego has had wars with Juuko, with Garcia etc. He's taking far far too many beatings, way too many shots to the head, the weight draining(NO WAY can he make 140) and his brave but stupid tactics. I don't want to see him hurt so someone around should just sit him down and tell him,for his health's sake. Even against someone like Cintron,I think he would get blown out. Clottey is a decent/good puncher for the weight,Kernit is a monstrous hitter, power wise,at 147.

Also the fact that Clottey came in at 170 is fwocking ridiculous.Fwocking riidiculous. Clottey is a very good fighter, but he can be outgutted as Margarito showed and he always seems to tire. Against a top WW,those issues will be exposed. I'd like to see him fight Cintron/Mosley or Joel Julio.

    CC Mick and El!!

You know i got thinking earlier..And i agree ..its too late now...

But had he thought this up earlier..

Can you imagine if he got involved with say mcgirt or another big time trainer.. Much like lsat fight he went back to his amatuer trainer and he said i wana box..
But frankly i dont think it would be enough...

I think it could have done wonders if he were to have undergone a gatti style renovation with mcgirt..
I loved to watch arturo box..And what with chico's hieght.. Although he doesnt have all that much reach for sucha tall fighter..He could have used that so much better..

I wonder if there could have been a way he could have signed a welterweight bout for later in the year then this and really work hard to be strong and comfortable at the weight..
I dont know about you guys but did you see how skinny chico's arms were... He didnt look strong..
And the whole loss of snap and eagerness is textbook affect of weight drain..
Reminded me alot of Tarver - Jones I For roy jones
And for Tarver against hopkins.. Course thats no excuse since hopkins was just giving him nothing to go on and left him pawing the jab the entire fight.. But late in the fight tarver couldnt have mustered a ko punch if he tried..

    Peace

    Corraless vs. Gatti at 147

They both aren't natural 147 pounders so its a pretty much even fight.

He hurt his hand, or else he would have beaten Margarito. Even if you want to try and say otherwise, he was hardly outgutted.. When he was able to punch with both hands, Margarito was getting that ass beat.

"when Clottey hurt his left hand vs. Margarito last December the first thing the contender did was turn to press row, point to his left wrist with his right glove, and mumble through his mouthpiece: “My hand is broken!”

He basically tossed out an excuse for his not winning the bout while the contest was in session. And from that point on, Clottey, who dominated the early rounds, appeared to allow Margarito to not only out-work but out-WILL him for the rest of the bout. That says something about Clottey’s psyche "

Quote from http://www.maxboxing.com/Fischer/Fischer040207.asp. Says it all really. And sorry but didn't a 70% fit Margarito win a UD?You didn't see Tony crying to Press Row during every break saying a hurt my ankle or a damaged my wrist.(he was only medically cleared in April,Clottey, who supposedly BROKE his hand fought much much sooner) So it doesn't matter what you say, when peeps open the history books,it'll say a UD for Tony.Simple as.

If only Vitali Klit fans felt the same as you did George Jetson.

Just as it will alwats say TKO win for Byrd against Vitali and TKO win for Lewis against Vitali.

And UD win for Floyd over Castillo
