Right i was annoyed at stoppage at first but also im glad in a way that it was stopped early so Calzaghe didn't break his hands now there is no lay off ect now he can get back to fighting top boys.

But will he fight the top boys thats the question Warren said after they offered Kessler's team July and they said they could'nt do july so Warren said so looks like it won't be Kessler why did'nt they offer another date to Kesslers team and work something out to make the fight happen i'll tell you why because they don't want him he will take Joe's 0. This way Warren can make out he wanted the fight but they did'nt for whatever reason as for Taylor he won't come here and Calzaghe don't like fighting out of britain he's said it before
It was stopped too early though, no denying that. Manfredo was never at any time hurt and as far as Im concerned its when a fighter is hurt that a fight should be stopped. Towards the end of that final flurry few of those punches were landing clean and Manfredo had bobbed himself off of the ropes. He was under pressure but dealing with it.
Calzaghe would clearly have taken the fight, but Manfredo deserved the opportunity to see if he could give anything to the fight....
Still, you are right at least we have no broken hands!!
Taylor is busy with Spinks. Hopkins is busy with Winky and Jones Jr wont sign on the dotted line with anybody so Kessler really is the only other big fight option. Warren needs to stop being such a prick and let Calzaghe decide his destiny at this late stage. And Calzaghe needs to be strong with Warren if he really wants the fight. If Hatton can eventually get Kostya then Warren can at least get Calzaghe Kessler!!Originally Posted by tysonbruno
You are right, July is stupidly early for Kessler to be back for a super fight. Kessler is just off of 12 hard rounds of boxing and would probably like to have a break before making camp again. Calzaghe may be fresh and itching to get back in the ring but there is no reason why a Kessler fight cannot be made for September...
Perhaps Warren thought if i offer them September they will say yes if he can't get Kessler for July hows he going to get Taylor for July when he's fighting Spinks i bet Calzaghe fights in July against a nobody Froch would be better than nothing but us the fans want Kessler
I just saw the fight...and it was stopped wayyy too early...but I have to say in the ref's defense..that if a fighter just lays up against the ropes and takes 25-30 unanswered punches the ref has no choice but to assume the fighter is either hurt or quitting....I am a big Manfredo fan for the record with love for Joe C...I love all my paisans. As a fighter you must never put yourself in that kind of position....I could see why PM did what he was doing. If Joe C didn't take this fight seriously enough he surely would have punched himself out.. You might not train the way you normally do but you will fight like you normally do....I think PM got the short end of the stick because he was never hurt at all...but his strategy needed to include a few punches during those Joe C flurries just to show he was in the fight and could carry on..remember B-HOP /Taylor? I think with a different game plan this could have been a really entertaining fight. I never saw Joe C totally dominating...but he was fighting his fight...did I have him ahead..sure...but a fight is never over till it's OVER!!!
It feels good to be back home.
If Calzaghe is fighting a bum next time out then he will have lost my faith entirely as a fan. At the end of the day even though Warren is making these fights it is Calzaghe who is accepting to take on these joke matchups. If Calzaghe wants the big fights then it is now or never.Originally Posted by tysonbruno

What's done is done.....am I disappointed? sure...but I come to expect that with fights that happen overseas....right now Joe C needs to step up and cement his claim on the SMW division and fight Kessler...if this doesn't go down by the end of the year I will boycott any Joe C fight and become a Kessler fan!!! Not to the extreme of some people on this board(or formerly on it ) but you get my drift.....Originally Posted by miles

Agreed completely. Even hardened Calzaghe fans like me have been asking many questions about the way his career has been handled recently. At 35 and with 4 fights left at the max he needs only fights that matter.Originally Posted by THE Bigragu
No excuses. Just get the fights. Warren needs to be less controlling because he has made more than enough money off of Calzaghe's name over the years. Give the fans the twilight fights that they bloody well deserve!!!
exactly....Warren has the ability to propel Joe C into the stratosphere with the Kessler fight..no matter what the outcome is....because then no one will ever be able to say Joe C didn't fight the best in his division at the end of his career no less...Originally Posted by miles

The stoppage was not a farce, the FIGHT was a farce!
There is absolutely no way that a man who is only famous for being on The Contender should have been in the ring with one of boxing's foremost fighters.
The whole thing stunk & IMO, the referee recognised the fact that Manfredo was way out of his depth & intervened at the first opportunity.
He saved Peter from an almost certain almighty beating!

Agree 100% said it before the fight, and my mind hasen´t change after the "fight" .Originally Posted by Syntax Error
I don´t understand that they could sell all those tickets so maybe Warren is doing the right thing moneywise so there is no way we gonna see Kessler in the ring with Calzaghe, they are looking elsewere for a qualified opponent ( money in the bank with low risk) no doubt about that.
Sad really
almost certain....that is less than 100% and unless you know for FACT, you cannot say such outlandish remarks.....well you can..you did...it just looks like you're talking out of your a**...Originally Posted by Syntax Error
