Default Mesi vs. Hill: Are you kidding me?

I wish Mesi would go away before something bad happens. Marv Hill is a disgrace and a careful analysis of his record bears this out. 9 of his 10 losses have come by way of early icings. He has met the Immortal Tim "Sting" Ray 5 times and most of his wins have come against corpses. He is simply fodder to amp up Mesi's record. This is an accident waiting to happen.

Well as God awful as Mesi looked, him fighting bums sells places out. He has a cult fanbase that doesn't seem to exist on the internet. I like it. I mean, it's not like this sets him up for a fight against a halfway decent opponent so let him make money KO'ing jobbers and keeping his brain intact.

This is pretty much how Mesi will speak if he ends up going in against a decent opponent, so I just don't think the sport needs a high profile death like his. So that's why I think this is a decent fight.

Had Mesi not been injured by Jirov he would have already had some L's on his record by now, methinks: Toney, Rahman, Brewster, Krasniqi, Ruiz, and not to mention the big boys of the division (Wlad, Vitali, Sam Peter, etc) would have beat him.

So what you're saying is that with Mesi getting injured he's really benefitted from it by not having to take on the big players of the division? I'm probably inclined to agree, but it does prevent him from gaining legendary status by default. But then he can make a truckload of money fighting inferior fighters.

(I believe this is where someone makes a derogatory comparison with Joe Calzaghe )

I think Monte Barrett had exposed his vulnerable chin prior to Jirov. Jirov just concussed him into what should have been permanent retirement. What he is doing now does boxing no favor and gives grist to the mill of those who want it banned.

Well now no one wants to fight him....you lose to Mesi and what happens to you? You fade away trying to earn fights on ESPN or FSN which is sad (for top tier heavyweights).

I liked watching Mesi fight say what you will about his talent but he's a fun fighter to watch. He threw a lot of punches, he didn't do well on defense, and you just knew someone was going to get knocked down.

I would still like to see Mesi-Guinn though.

I think Guinn is about the top quality of fighter Mesi could safely challenge. Any of you read the comments on fightnews by Mesi's dad about how "certain powers" are trying to stop his son from getting the high-profile fights he deserves?

....If Mesi is going to fight then he should fight the top level guys. No reason to die fighting a bum....if you're going to die in the ring.....not that he wants to, but let's face facts, he's no shining beacon of health.

But he should either fight the big time guys in the division or just be banned from fighting period.....don't let him flounder around vs these bums
