Obviously the younger you start the better, but 22 isnt too young. You shouldnt even be thinking about being pro considering you have no amateur experience yet. My advice to you would be to find a trainer, train for a year then fight in the amateurs. Boxing isnt for everyone and it takes years to learn and even great fighters are still learning

I definitely say do not jump into the pros boxing isn't like MMA, and its not like anything else. Especially at lower proffesional levels they are often too slow at stopping fights and people get hurt, but also people who watch the sport to realize that it does suck to get hit. Every single punch you take from a proffesional glove you will feel.

you should try out the amateurs and see how you feel. at 22 you still have a chance

13 or 14 in the amatures and then work your way up. If you are successful, turn pro at around 20 or 21 and foght a lot of 4 rounders. I fought from age 13 to age 21 as an amature, but never turned pro, as I lost the desire.

Yeah amateur is better to begin with because the gloves are softer, and you were head equipment. THis helps so that you don't get too much brain injury just trying to figure out the sport. But the losing weight, cardio, determination that is needed in the sport is quite and the average person doesn't have it in them to do it.

The only sport I knew of as a youngsetr thatwas more demanding (though not as dangerous) was amature wrestling. My God, thoses guys were in great shape and strong as oxes.

Pro boxers punch is like being pounded by a hammer. If your serious having a brain damage you can immediately go to pro boxing.
