Thread: I DON'T GET THE CALZAGHE THING

He's been champ for nearly 10 year and most people only recognize him for his win over Lacy i think myself Joe Calzaghe is overrated in 20 defences he has'nt really fought any major league fighters at the top of there game it could be because he won't go and fight in the states or the fact that Warren does'nt deliver but Warren can't be held fully to blame these are Calzaghes 21 world title fights he must be so proud of himself.



GOOD

A weight drained Chris Eubank at a weeks notice UD12
Robin Reid who some thought won some did'nt should have had a rematch SD12
Omar Shieka TKO5 not a bad result
Richie Woodhall TKO10 but had already had a beating off Beyer
An old Charles Brewer UD12
Byron Mitchell TKO2 a good result
Overrated Jeff Lacy American hype machine UD12 then most think Calzaghes GOD


THE BAD

Branko Sobot TKO3
Juan Carlos Gimenez Ferreyra TKO10 he was 37 though
Rick Thornberry UD12 Henry Wharton TKO'd him in 5
David Starie UD12 abit of a dance Dean Francis managed to ko him
Mario Veit KO1 Were'nt a good fighter should'nt have been their
Will McIntyre TKO4 same old crap
Miguel Angel Jimenez UD12 Another average fighter
Tocker Pudwill TKO2
Mger Mkrtchian TKO7 this fight was really crap
Kabary Salem UD12 both down how i don't know it was a typical Calslappy Bore
Mario Veit TKO6 it tuck him longer this time
Evan Ashira UD12 crap fighter but Calzaghe broke his hand and my will to live
Sakio Bika strong fighter but technically crap UD12
Peter Manfredo hype machine from reality tv show contender we needed Kessler we got Manfredo TKO3

... so who who should he have fought that was at their best at Super Middle during his reign?

You Sir talk sense i thought it was just me and a few others in the UK who think Calzaghe is a waste of time , i don't need to point out how weak his opponent's have been as you already have
BUT I DID THIS A WEEK AGO TRY THIS GUYS.
Go to the records section on this web homepage and choose any of Calzaghes opponent's and look how poor they have been since they fought him. Its a hoot most ere novice bums and there records prove this thanks for the memories FRANK WARREN YOU TOSSER

Ottke was an absolute pile of sh1t and so has the division being - but that's not JC's fault.

Yeh, if it was me, perhaps I would've looked for more lucrative fights elsewhere, but as frustrated as I am with Calzaghe and his career path, I still think he is the absolute bollox of a fighter - but I suppose we will never know if that is really true

Ottke was scared shitless of Calzaghe wanted no part of him and Ottke had more gift decisions than i've had hot dinners.

ICB look at this list and tell me they werent bums ? CF is easily on par and imo above most of those fighters!

Got to say CF looks goos offensively, but he hangs his chin out to dry and if he gets caught flush by a top 10 fighter, he is gonna get sparked!!

If he sorts his defense, who knows - he could be superb

Well i have no idea how hell Cf got number 3 when he has beaten domestic fighters or nobodys and i've said this in another thread already Roy Jones vs Calzaghe if he can't get that then maybe fight Froch but really Froch is another overrated prospect who if Calzaghe beat now would get no credit.

You can say the same thing for JC though? who on earth is PM? a contender at light middle not super middle! i know CF would spark him out with 5 rounds for sure! I personally want him to fight Kessler! i would be happy with that IMO he is the number 3 at 168, and it therefore makes sense to fight him baring in mind JT isnt going to fight and for the big name which i am truely against RJJ! I really think its the fight that should be made if the other 3 cant be made?

Although not world beaters - Mkrtchian, Veit and Bika (Bika fight was terrible timing) were'nt bad fighters.

And if people are trumpeting bloody Ottke then Starie gave him a decent argument whereas Starie made the Calzaghe fight as UGLY as possible, as his only hope was to survive without being KO'd.
