The complaining will never stop.People keep saying that Oscar is bigger, stronger, has fought the better competition, has all of this courage,etc...but after Floyd beats him...it'll just be, "well DLH was past his prime so it doesnt prove anything for Floyd".You have to make up your mind.
Floyd gets picked apart because the "best" fighter he has ever faced is JLC,who is considered on the forum as a "B" fighter.Yet at the same time...Margo,Cotto,Williams,Hatton,etc...all get praised as if they beat nothing but "A" fighters.

It's a fact Oscar is old is it not? And Castillo is certainly an A grade fighter for sure. You misunderstand though,if Floyd retires after Oscar,he is missing out an: paydays and making his resume look amazing. After beating Oscar,it'll be good, but when was his last challenge before Oscar? JLC,5 years ago? That is NOT all time great stuff is it>?

    Or WANT Oscar to win?

When you're using an incident like Floyd was excited after his win over Gatti, I'm not sure how that lends to your belief that Oscar's gonna win.
Sounds like you want Oscar to win more than anything.

When will we ever hear the end of the Castillo fight?
Every time Floyd is coming up to fight someone always has to come out with, "Floyd didn't look good against Castillo, so he'll obviously lose his next fight!"
I could say Mayorga nailed Oscar with an uppercut once in their fight so Floyd will obviously hit him too! Sounds kind of crazy, doesn't it?
That's the crazyness I read when I see someone say Castillo giving Floyd troubles means that Oscar will. And that fight was 5 damn years ago.
I agree with you wholeheartdly... Everyone brings up that stupid fight over and over again and they forget he waxed that azz in the rematch... Its all non-sense and hatred bottom line and I'll tell you why..

The minute you bring up his inactiveity, gift versus Strum, Ko by Hopkins and his latest celebrated win over a wild swinging one dimensional skilless as a backyard Boxer who stands there with his chin out Mayorga, the defending and downplaying excuses fly out of this forum like an airport..

WELL GUESS WHAT IT WORKS BOTH WAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you consider 34 old...true.Why keep bringing up all of Oscars boxing abilities only to put him off if he loses?Yes if he retires he will be missing out on paydays...but at this point its estimated that he has made around 33.5million,not to mention he has a record label, plans to start a promotional company, and wants to spend time with his family. He wanted to fight Mosley a few years back(mosley went another route)after JLC who should he have fought(that had a legitimate resume)?

Oscar has to KO him.I dont think that there is any fighter from 154 and down that can outpoint Floyd.

Oscar doesnt win this fight unless he goes for broke. We all know he has the size and power to hurt Floyd, but can he do it in the early rounds before he fades.

    Floyd wins.

I have great respect for Floyd. But something tells me he's bitten more than he can chew. He went up to 140 won 2 fights, then 147 and won 2 fights now 154. He is going up in wight way to fast and this could hurt him. This reminds me of Tito and his climb up the weights that ended in disaster. Oscar is another one that went one weight class too high and payed for it.

However, there are a lot of other factors here. PBF is an excelent boxer and will avoid taking many big punches. Oscar has not been very active lately and he has never, NEVER looked impressive against an elite fighter in his prime, which is excactly what he is facing.

That said I do think Oscar is certanly good enough to catch Floyd with good shots every now and again. The questions are: Will he catch him often? Will Floyd take it?

I have serious doubts on this. This fight is a lot harder to predict than most think. I am considering putting up a bet for DLH, but thats only because PBF is the favorite and I love those underdogs....

what really supprises me is some people accually think Mayweather has a chance of winning ... that aint gonna happen mate he wont have the power to keep DLH off and DLH wont be chasing him around the ring.

only one winner for me and i too see DLH sparking him right out

I'd like to see Delahoya pull this off. But I do think Mayweather has a good shot himself, wouldn't want to lose my house on this one though.

one thing no ones really thinking of is that Oscar should actually still be undefeated at this weight, the only "loss" at 154 on his record was against Mosley in the rematch and De La Hoya clearly won the fight, although IMO his best weight was 147 (and i'm pretty sure that DLH in his prime at 147 would destroy PBF at 147), I still think that at 154 De La Hoya is going to be too much for Mayweather, and also that if Floyd doesn't win this will lead to his downfall career-wise, cause i think the weight on this big of a stage will be too much for him

I am beginning to perceive an intangible factor which should not be left out of this equation. ANGER. Is it there? I think I am feeling it. If I am correct, it will be the grand equalizer and the key to an Oscar De La Hoya victory. If there is anyone that can turn Oscar into a pitbull, it's Freddy Roach. I know, I said Floyd would win, but after witnessing the synergy between Oscar and Freddy I am forced to withdraw my previous statements regarding a clear Floyd victory.
    Why?
All of us have seen what Oscar is capable of doing when he is angry, right? He is not the same fighter when he is ticked off. I am not saying that Floyd is making Oscar angry like Vargas and Mayorga did, but what I am saying is, that Freddy has been able to tap into Oscar's angry can of whoop-azz and it will transfer and manifest itself in the ring come May 5th.
    Strategy?
Pure unadulterated hate, angerand sheer aggression will carry Oscar to victory, while we watch in awe as Floyd is carried out on a stretcher.

    Church!

I know someone said Oscar has fought consistently good competition ,but Floyd has fought ok guys and dominated. I have studied a few of Floyd's fights lately and notice how he has trouble sometimes early in fights, then he gets his rhythm and it flows for him. I admit Oscar's jab is exceptional and FLoyd does kind of jab to the body early and bends down and Oscar might hit him then, but FLoyd always adjusts. Almost like he sees what the guy has and adjusts then cruises to a points domination. Which means Oscar might have to do a Hagler versus Hearns kind of aggression and try to take him out of his gameplan but how many guys have the determination to do what Marvin did in 1985? But I think that is an option which hardly any bigger fighters utilize. My point is the first round is very very important in this fight, but I am not sure Oscar can get to Floyd before Floyd does his adjust and then takes over. The only question I have is the weight a little and Floyd reaching in with his jab, but other than that Floyd does adjust.. I cannot wait for this fight. It is a fascinating matchup.. The question is will Floyd prove he is for real.. I think he is. But that will prove alot.

Danny G.. I agree. Oscar has to do what Hagler did. Tuck his head in and fire punches, but in my mind Hearns was willing to trade and give Hagler what he wanted. Floyd will not trade. But that style is great since I think Oscar has to take him out early, or at least hurt him and get him out of his gameplan. Although I never have seen Oscar with the kind of guts like Hagler or Hearns. Not to say he doesn't have it, but he is not kamakaze like that.
