Default Am I the only one who..........

Who loves Floyd as a fighter?

People criticise him for running and being too defensive minded but the guy is a genuis in the ring and at times a marvel to watch.

He's hardly going to stand toe to toe and trade blows with a 154 lb Hall of Famer when he's a natural 140 lber at best.

He keeps moving up in weight and fighting guys bigger and stronger than him and he keeps winning.

It would be physically impossible for someone of Floyd's size to stand and trade with someone who has fought as a full blown middleweight sp he wins using his superior craft and speed.

How anyone can even think Manny Pacquiao should be p4p number 1 is completely beyond me.

Pacman is a very exciting fighter but he's beatable even by guys in his own division. Marquez would have a great chance in a rematch I'm sure.

I know he's already moved up a few divisions but there's no way his style could win him fights against the best at lightweight so nobody even expects him to move up.

Floyd has gone up far beyond his own natural weight class and gets berated for the fact that he didn't stand, trade and walk through one of the modern greats, a 10 time 6 weight world champ and Olympic Gold medalist?

Thats like expecting Manny Pacquio to move up to 140 and overwhelm and knock out Ricky Hatton

The only reason people want to see him stand toe to toe is because they want him to give his opponent a chance to knock him out

I'm not a PBF fan, but I have HUGE respect for him as a pure boxer. He has a phenomenal defense and can pick apart just about anyone out there right now. My one gripe is that he does not throw as many combos as he used too, but that is just probably an effect caused by becoming a more and more defensive minded fighter.

I agree with pretty much 100% of what you say Bilbo. I love watching Floyd fight and I enjoy defensive-minded fighters as much as offensive-minded ones. I think most of the people who were hoping that Floyd would stand and trade with Oscar were the same ones who were hoping he'd get KTFO.
I think Floyd came in with a solid gameplan and executed it well. He also demonstrated that he has a decent chin, he took some clean shots from Oscar (One that sticks out in my mind was in the last 20 seconds or so), but it was Oscar who looked a bit stunned at times.
As far as Paquiao, he's an exiting fighter, a great fighter, but I'd rate him no higher than #3 P4P at best, and thats being generous.

Your definitely not the only one.

But I don't share your feelings. The problem I have is Floyd's mouth. It would be different if he would shut it.

If SRL would have spent the prefight build up saying "I am gonna massacre Hagler, I am gonna go toe to toe with him" and then fought the fight he fought, he gets no credit. But SRL didn't say that, and he fought his own gameplan and won. I respect that.

Floyd's problem is he opened his mouth and kept on saying he was gonna "Ice" him, and massacre him, and then he didn't fight that style, he fought his regular style. So to me he's a punk..... That all. He could have fought his fight if he didn't open his mouth. To me he lost and he has 0 integrity, and 0 class, and 0 humility. I was never a fan of his, but I never disliked him either. Now I am disgusted.

I used to hate ODH, especially after Tito fight. He earned my respect in his first fight with Mosley. It will take a performance like that for PBF to get any respect from me.

It's hard to throw combos unless you can hurt the opponent because otherwise its easy for them to hit you back.

If he moves down again im sure you will see more combos but against guys with more power i think he changes to a more defensive minded boxer. If he fights Hatton im sure you will see plenty of combos out of him.

I agree completely with you Bilbo you reflected my thought perfectly.

I'm not a PBF fan, but I will admit that he's a great boxer. His personality leaves a lot to be desired.

I disslike mayweather, as of late his fights have bored me and when he starts yapping, makes me wanna punch him my self... but one thing is for sure, had it been me who was his trainer, i wuda told him to fight the way he has been, coz all that matters is a guy wins.

He is p4p #1 in the world right now, he may not be the #1 most exciting fighters, but on talent he is the best. The reaosn why i think it is very important for mayweather to fight someone like hatton is he will be able to let his hands go, shake him up and prolly knock him out - and he needs that kind of fight before he calls it a day for good.

No dude, the problem is PBF said that's what he's gonna do. I respect his boxing ability. How would you feel if Pernell Whitaker talked that kind of trash.... I'm ko'ing JLC.... And then fights his normal style? The problem is this, and I make a living selling things. The number 1 rule is never overpromise and under deliver. Instead you should underpromise and overdeliver.

PBF intentionally OVERPROMISES and under delivers. To me he's a con man. Just be who you are. Your a slick boxer.... Talk slick boxer trash, "you won't be able to touch me, etc.... Not Tyson trash. Like he's some kind of ko artist.
