You must have missed all the fans on these boards the past few days.
you know at first i wanted to say..unless you're a chick or homosexual what is the real reason to be a die hard de la hoya fan because he hasn't done anything that great as far as being in the ring goes...so i don't understand all the supporters on here not accepting that he got beat by floyd, and how they wanted a rematch with shane after he lost twice, that he ran from tito that's why he lost, that sweet pea actually won that fight, that he beat an old chavez then tried to use his age as an excuse as why he should have been given the fight against floyd...

i just don't understand..are there a lot of guys in the closet on the forum, i don't know can someone explain..perhaps a male heterosexual boxing fan that has actually watched fights other than de la hoya's please help me understand...
He won a gold medal, fought the best of his generation and given them all hard fights. He is a warrior in the ring and a class act. I can understand more if you gave guys a hard time for being a fan of a man called "Pretty Boy."
a warrior against the AIR, not against pbf's face or body.

class act? as in i love my legitimate son gabriel he brings me so much joy it makes me cry but F my B****** daughter from my baby mama blink 182 bimbo!

class act as in on the tonight show saying: oh no me and bob arum are cool we just grew apart. but in reality suing the hell out of arum and preventing the fights that the fans deserve!(jmm vs pac II etc etc)

also making pbf buy out his own contract with arum to even make the cinco de mayo fight happen.

class act as in join golden boy ill make you my business partner and come spar with me in puerto rico but pay for your own flight, hotel, food, and i wont pay you at all for your sparring, even tho your a champ and you beat me twice!

    yeah your right CLASSY!

I was struggling to find a comparison to this fight with.
    Hagler - Leonard? No.
    Hearns - Leonard? Not even.
After much deliberation, I have FINALLY come to a conclusion.

    This fight resembled...

    Zangief vs. Dhalsim

I'm not saying Zangief is a terrible thing to be compared to. Some people are good at mashing them punch buttons. Just sayin' is all.

Thanks for the flasback. The irony is, Zangief is the only character I couldn't beat the game with.

why does he have star power as a boxer that hasn't even come close to dominating the sport?

i see no one who has really given a real answer about why is he liked so much..i don't know him personally and i doubt that any one on here does too...as a fan of the sport..can anyone tell me why is he liked so much?

because i know no guys on here watch oscar because they think he's a hottie...and there are several great technical boxers that that bring all the skills that oscars brings and have actually beaten A+ competition i just don't get why a fan of the sport would deem oscar as their fav

because like i said, he's never beaten a prime A+ fighter, and he won't fight to the death like morrales and barrera, he's not a blood gusher like gatti, nor has he been the p4p number fighter so what the reason to support him so much

Because he won the gold remember. Thats the only reason but has good management and hes smart. As far as his fighting goes I never thought he was the best even back in the day because he dodged a lot of people I feel why didnt he fight Tszyu they were prime? Ruelas Hernandez had to put on weight so oscar could fight for their title belts kinda backwards dont you think!

I dont understand it. I always thought he was a plastic lil prick. Everything about him is fake. From his accomplishments, to his persona. Its all fake. He's just a product of great promotion is the only conclusion I can think of. Most of his fans are women anyways. The bar I watched the fight at most of the men were rooting for Mayweather while the women rooted for Delahoya. I was rooting for Mayweather but was acting like I wanted Delahoya to win so I'd have an easy conversation starter with the women.

I agree with this. But then why is there so many PBF fans. He's never even shared the ring with a great let alone beat one. Delahoya as gay as he is can at least say that he ran from the great Tito, and cried on the floor against Hopkins.

Lately though he has fought some good fighters. In his younger days it was his management who made his fights and money. Isnt that what there sopose to be there for? So cant blame him for that look at other fighters they havent all fought the best! Who I have big respect for is James Tony!

because at least floyd is undisputed p4p no 1..and castillo and corrales were in their primes and at one time both ranked in the top five pound for pound and floyd did beat every one there was to fight...except margarito but he's not great anyway so...nevermind him

didn't Corrales get busted for smacking his old lady round before that fight? Hardly the best preperation for a fight...you could argue that Floyd has beat (narrowly) on over the hill Oscar so that win means nothing. Talk sense.

Some folk can't win, if you take your time and consider what you say you're a fake, if you speak your mind you're an asshole. Can't win with fans.

diego never complained about being distracted..and you can't be serious thinking that had chico been a model husband the fight would have been different...and corrales was undefeated and on the pound for pound top 5 list...either way floyd has beaten better competition than oscar..and i stress the word "beaten"....and yet all that being said know one can give a legitimate answer as to why oscar is so liked so much other than "the chicks dig him" but what's that got to do with the guys that back him, why do they like him so much?
