Oscar fights with heart, he's a nice person, and above all he carries himself with class.....Him, Shane, and Tito will be looked back on much like Ali, Frazier, and Foreman

i supposed so..but one thing that all those fighter have in common that oscar doesn't is that they at one point or another beat prime A+ fighters...don't get me wrong, but i don't know oscar personally so i could care less how he carries himself i'm only interested in what he does in the ring, and when he loses he he doesn't handle it with "class"

What do you mean he hasnt beat any class A fighters? Chavez was old but still was whipping everyones a** when they fought. Quartay whats he? Trinadad he didnt get the W but it was close even went up with Hopkens lost but so did Tito no shame there and Oscar didnt take a dive either! Parnel Whitcker! Ruelas! Hernandez! All were champions! Won the Gold at the Olympics! What are you talking about! ! !

I think it is because Oscar came along in 1992.. Tommy Hearns fought in his popularity height for the last time in 1992 and we needed another generation which was great. So the public embraced Oscar Delahoya. Oscar was seen as the first of the next generation of fighters after Hearns,Hagler,Duran and Leonard. And alot of hope was put on him. Even though he has not really beaten the top guys of his generation, he has sort of directed what fights have been big and who is the guy to fight. He dictated this generations pace. He is different than Sugar Ray Leonard in that Ray dictated because he beat everyone -Benitez, Hearns,Duran,Hagler etc. Oscar has pretty much lost to all the good guys he has fought, but he still dictates. He has more charisma or something than the others, especially to do this in light of all the loses.

Chavez and Whittaker were not prime when Oscar "beat" them -- and the "win" over Whittaker was controversial anyway. Ruelas and Hernandez are not "A+ fighters" (neither is Vargas). He did not deserve the W over Quartey (who's not an A+ fighter anyway). The only thing approaching a "prime A+ fighter" Oscar ever beat was Trinidad (I agree he won that fight) -- though given the way Tito was exposed every time he faced someone with boxing skills, it's not altogether clear he should be classified as "A+". Oscar's KO LOSS to Hopkins obviously doesn't inure to his benefit. Add to that loss the other losses he's had every other time he's gone up against a legit A+ fighter (Mosley twice and PBF), as well as what everyone agrees should have been a loss against the B grade Felix Sturm, and you have a very good, but not ATG fighter (certainly not on the level of Ali, Frazier or Foreman).

Don't change the argument. The post you responded to said "No. Oscar's not like Ali, Frazier and Foreman, because unlike those guys, he's never beaten an A+ fighter in that fighter's prime." Whether he beat an old guy with a belt or a B+ fighter with a belt is entirely beside the point.

Well too bad for that thats just the flat truth at that time Chavez was the man so Oscar had to challange him if he wanted a World Title! Now if in the same shoes what would you have done to get the top of top of Title Belts?

.....just ask yourself this...if FLOYD was in Oscar's shoes would he have fought half the guys Oscar did AND more to the point would he have won

Sweet Pea would have ATE Floyd for lunch!

Chavez definantly knew how to fight and WHIP a Mayweather!

    Shane would terrorize Floyd!

Tito would have beaten Jr senseless!

I don't think Floyd would have had the sack to challenge Camacho, Quartey, and to a far lesser extent Oba Carr (a very good boxer who, like many others who was destroyed by Trinidad)

Sweet Pea would have ate Floyd for lunch!-----Sweet Pea could dip his gloves in glue and broken glass ALA Kickboxer and he still couldn't hurt Floyd

Chavez definatly knew how to fight and WHIP a Mayweather-----So by implication Roger Mayweather at some time was the top p4p fighter in the world

Shane would terrorize Floyd!------ Just like he terrorized Vernon Forrest right?

Tito would have beaten jr. senseless---If by beaten jr. senseless you mean he would lose 12 rounds to 0, I agree, he would have beaten jr. senseless.

Sweet Pea was not an offensive fighter BUT he still threw more punches than Floyd...and he still hit harder than Floyd!

Roger Mayweather called himself the Mexican Assassin.....up to the point where he was thumped out by JCC

Shane is beat by certain types of fighters and Floyd ain't it...Vernon and Winky are tall fighters who fight at range and had good jabs and good defense.

Trinidad only lost twice....once to Winky Wright....once to Bernard Hopkins.....I HIGHLY doubt Floyd ranks with them in regards to size and strength....speed never hurt Tito, he beat the shit out of a lot of FAST fighters

By your rational SKYLER, I reckon Ray Robinson, Tommy Hearns, Ray Leonard, Henry Armstrong, Roberto Duran, and GOD couldn't beat Floyd Mayweather Jr......I honestly don't think so highly of Floyd, he claims he's the best but he never once ......let's bold that HE NEVER ONCE proved he was THE #1 UNDISPUTED best in any weight class ever.......just take some time and let that sink in

I think Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, Henry Armstrong, Roberto Duran, (and yes, God), ALL beat Mayweather. I just don't think Trinidad, Whitaker, or Mosley do that's all.
