there have been great guys behind the mike. Barry Tompkins works so well with Al Bernstein or with Larry Merchant. Barry is great at starting a topic and then getting feedback.. He does not get involved himself much he hands it over like Steve Nash hands over the ball in an assist. And Lampley is good at that also. Exceptional guys. The biggest idiot who ever had a microphone is Ferdie Pacheco.. Sometimes I would hear stuff he said and wonder what he was watching or what he was saying. I liked him personally, but his commentating was sort of funny. I do not like Teddy Atlas. As much as he knows and all that, I just do not like his commentating. He is ok for one fight, but for a whole PPV card he would be annoying.

I always enjoyed Dan Dierdorf's boxing broadcast on ABC , fantastic announcer. . Al Bernstine is terrific, good guy .

I love the colonel's passion! can you drive you crazy sometimes but he is fun.

Well...most of the best have never been in the ring. Especially the blow by blow guys which is what this poll features. Tessitore is probably my favorite of those listed.

Gotta CC you just for that... I really liked Roy Jones as a commentator. Only boxer who's ever held a full time position commentating big fights that I really thought did a stand up job.. He makes Lennox or Foreman look like goofs.

everyone saying RJJ, merchant and atlas, this isnt about color commentators

its just out of the current 4 main play by play guys

out of the color commentators bobby hennan > all even tho he never did boxing, he was so great it spreads into other fields

I like Bob heard him do some Naz fights he's good and lively i like that when they are right into the fight
