first i would say watch this fight with peter weighin in at 230ish

after watching them fights i was in awe of peters power. even when he misses, skims his opponents you can HEAR his power. his is very sharp aswell which makes him even more dangerous.
his shots seem very very very AND VERY HEAVY!

watching these fights i can hear every peter shot and it just makes them look more deadly. i kno dempsey louis marciano foreman and liston hit hard but unfortunetly you cant hear it on their fights like you could hear it on the two above fights.

my question is...do you think peter could punch harder than dempsey, marciano, louis, foreman or liston?
im not sure.

i know for example foreman and liston were murderous punchers but louis, dempsey and marciano who weighed under 200 pound at their best, im not sure if their punch was harder than a samuel peters? what do u think?

Sam Peter doesn't hit THAT hard....sure he's a KO puncher but he is wide and slaps with his punches whereas Louis snapped his punches, Dempsey, Foreman, and Marciano really used their legs when they threw their punches.


I would say Sam Peter is one of the best power punchers today but as far as ALL-TIME he's not even close.

Guys like Lewis, Tyson, Frazier, Wladimir, Vitali, Foreman, Shavers, Rocky, Dempsey, and others are ahead of Sam.

if he threw clean shots with good form (which he may be to muscular to do) he probably would hit as hard or harder then all of them except maybe foreman, but he doesnt know how to get that much power from his shots, although he is till probably the second hardest hitter alive


he needs to hook up with freddy roach, then he would be a real deal hard hitter

I still think that Sam has the potential to be the future of the division... He's young and developing, you can see it and 24 rounds with James Toney has only helped him develop in my opinion.

if he fights in the futute like he fought in the second toney fight he will be a dangerous force to anyone but big vladdy, sultan, and vitali, but i think he may think to himself that he doesnt need the jab anymore now that toney is out of the way, i hope not cuz jabbing peter is the fucking man

Peter's power is impressive. Because he was bigger than the smaller guys, he might hit harder. who knows. Louis had heavy hands, and dropped people with jabs. And Marciano's whole arm dissappeared into his victim. You couldn't even see his elbow. That's an extremely hard punch.And, those guys were more accurate then Sam. There's no way to say for sure, who hits harder, but I think The little guys could knock out the sam guys that Peter has. I wouldn't say that Peter is the hardest hitter ever. Some of the recent heavies have hit harder.

Foreman might have the heaviest hands. Lennox could crumble anyone with his right. Max Baer killed guys with his punches. Sam is not at the top, but I wouldn't what to get hit by him.

if we could hear the sounds of dempseys, foremans or sonny listons punches then maybe i'd know for sure. i know liston punched hard, i mean he totally destroyed opponents at the highest level!

dempsey totally slaughtered willard that fight. i guess weight isnt everything, these guys have proved it!

Guys who weigh 185 don't hit harder than guys who weigh 240, it's just a fact. Dempsey, Marciano, even Joe Louis (he was around 205) don't come close to the power of the average heavyweight today. It's just science.

The thing about Joe Louis is he ALWAYS knew his range.....he'd stalk his victim down and BANG it's like his punches were always PERFECT.

Some of Rocky's punches were surprising....the delayed effect of the power was crazy and he didn't care how he hit you, where he hit you, or what he hit you with, you were going down! VS Archie Moore he hit him with his fists, forearms, and on the head, to the body, and behind the head until Moore just collapsed


Samson.....it may be true but only if the bigger guy throws their punches in the best technical way. Rocky and Louis especially had very good technical styles when it came to their right crosses and the only guys today I can think of who have similar technical ability are The Klitschko's.

As for the hooks, Sam Peter doesn't throw hooks like Foreman, Frazier, Tyson, or Dempsey...Sam Peter doesn't use his legs as much as those guys, he swings with his upper body therefore not getting the kind of power he could generate

Personally if I was going to have to get hit in the face by any of these fighters I would choose Louis or Dempsey because of their smaller size. They would hurt for sure but hopefully not kill me.

I'd cry like a little bitch if I was tied up and awaiting to feel one of Sam Peters punches.

I think he probably does have more one-punch knockout power than those smaller punchers from yesteryears like Dempsey, Marciano and Louis. I've never seen either of them throw a punch with the power that I've seen Peter throw.

But I think Foreman and Liston are well above him in terms of punching power. Both (expecially Foreman) just hit freakishly hard.

I'd rather be hit by Sam Peter.....because he has yet to really hurt anyone the way Dempsey and Louis hurt their foes....would you like to be Jess Willard when he had a broken jaw, ribs, and nose and spit and blood was coming out of his cheeks....or would you like to be Max Schmelling when he was torn apart by Joe Louis

Sam Peter's punches are hard but they don't do as much physical or cosmetic damage to fighters as the older guys punches did
