Default If Ali Fought Marciano's Opponents and Marciano Fought Ali's Opponents.....

....I think it's evident that Muhammad Ali would be 49-0 with 49 KOs (and probably would have never seen the 6th round). Unfortunately for Mr. Marciano, if he fought the same 61 total fights Ali did, he would end up 40-21, unlike Ali going 56-5. Marciano's losses would be:

    Sonny Liston I - KOd in 3
Sonny Liston II - KOd in 1
    George Chuvalo I - KOd in 4
George Chuvalo II - KOd in 1
    Joe Frazier I - KOd in 4

I'm speaking reletivaly to the sense that the fights would occur in the same order as Ali's, and vice versa, i.e., Rocky Marciano, at the tail end of his career, ain't knocking out a young Leon Spinks or a young Trevor Berbick.

Although I do feel these guys would KO Marciano

    Liston
    Foreman
    Frazier
    Holmes
    Norton(perhaps)

The rest of you list is like a Screen door on a Submarine though....

If Marciano fought Ali's opponents,he would NOT have been unbeaten and Ali fought Marciano his legacy would not be as good but he'd be undefeated too.

I agree with the original post that Ali would be 49-0 with 49 KOs, but realistically, I don't think Marciano would be able to complete the 61 fights Ali fought, as I too think Liston, Foreman, Frazier, Holmes, and Norton would KO him, and in all likelyhood they would be brutal KOs, so bad in fact (and I'm not trying to be funny here) that afterwards he would be unable to be sanctioned to fight in any state.

I can't think of too many heavyweights who wouldn't be 49-0 with 49 knockouts with Marciano's opponents.

I think Rocky-Frazier would have been a great fight to watch. Possibly one of the best wars ever, regardless of the winner.

    Liston by KO
    Frazier by KO
    Foreman by KO
    Holmes by UD

Other than those four he would have beaten or gone very close to the rest.
I can't see Spinks or Berbick beating Marciano.
I see him struggling with Cooper!

Rocky wouldn't lose to Liston....just my opinion

    Rocky would BLAST Patterson away

Well obviously there was only one who could do it at the time.....I can't think of anyone having trouble with Tyson's opponents either....in fact I think Rocky could have beat them too: Tillis, Bruno, Spinks, OLD Larry Holmes, Green.

Realistically, that OLD Larry Holmes was a lot better than the old Louis, Charles, and Walcotts that Marciano beat. I think the Holmes that beat Mercer and gave Holyfield a good fight would have even beaten Rocky. He did the best he could in his era, noone can take that from him... But he would have been slaughtered if he had faced even the fighters that he did beat when they were at their best HW condition.

You would have to give marciano an extra 30 pounds. He would be considered light heavyweight today. If the rock weighed 220 or 230 he would have killed most of ali's opponents.

I second that notion. 49-0 with 49 knockouts? What the fuck? There is no doubt in my mind that Ali would probably go 49-0 fighting the same guys Rocky did, but stopping them all? I don't know about that, Ali wasn't exactly a huge knockout artist like Rocky...

I agree about SOME of his losses though. I believe Rocky would be beaten by guys like Frazier and Liston. I believe Foreman would DESTROY Marciano. I believe wholeheartedly that Larry Holmes would outbox Marciano and win a dominant Unanimous decision.
