    Default Tough to watch

I am not ashamed to admit that I am a big Edison Miranda fan. I picked him to beat Pavlik by KO somewhere around the 4th or 5th. Boy was I wrong. Pavlik fought a great fight and he was the better man tonight. I think Miranda probably mouths off a little too much but listen at least the guy backs up what he talks. He stood and traded with Pavlik.....it just so happened Pavlik got the better of him. There are tons of Floyd fans who think he's the greatest for talking crazy amounts of trash then doing very little to back it up. Unless you think massacring De La Hoya = dancing a pitter patting your way to another win. I am no less of a Miranda fan after watching tonight's fight. He did what he always does, he stood and fought....it may not have been the smartest decision but it was the ballsiest one. Pavlik had the superior game plan and he beat one of the best Middleweights on the planet. This should be seen as a huge accomplishment for Pavlik not a huge dissapointment (although it is a temporary career setback) for Miranda. I truly hope that Pantera will rebound strongly and work himself back into the title picture because there have been very few fighters in the last few years who have captured my attention the way he has. It's tough to watch your favorite fighter get knocked out.......good effort and good luck Pantera.

I am a friend and fan of Pavlik. Ive known him since he was 14. Nice post and I wish Pantera the best of luck. I hope he can see tonight in the hotel, and he doesnt walk into the wrong room or something. Do you know if he recieved medical attention after the fight. Or will he recieve it tomorrow at the BBQ LOL!!!!!

Zeke you can't stand all the trash talking from Miranda? This is boxing not golf or checkers. Trash talking is part of the sport. What would you prefer.......Nice to be fighting you Mr. Pavlik I want to wish you the best of luck, I greatly respect you and you boxing abilities. Come on........it's part of the game. Your boy won. Good for you.....so take the win like a man. Boast on your guys abilities not Miranda coming up short. Good win for Pavlik, impressive KO over a very good fighter.

I like the trash talking from Miranda and zekebox .

I hope they work on Miranda's skills and would like to see him fight Pavlik again. Win or lose Pantera is an exciting fighter to fight.

As for Pavlik, hell I'll pay to see him fight again!

The fact is there is no great middleweight around. It's realy a shame Winky Wright is moving up so far as I think he would have beat Taylor in a rematch and would school any other MW contender.. Pavlik impressed me tonight but I dn't consider him to be a great fighter... As far as miranda, he would lose to practically any world class middleweights throughout history,

cc. That was a very good post. I see it the same way. I didn't pick a winner cause I only ssen 2 fights by both guys. I thought Miranda would probably win because of his chin. But hats off to both of them. Miranda doesn't lose any ground in my eyes, he just doesn't gain any and Pavlik did. I just hope Miranda can come back cause it was severe and it's tough physically and tougher mentally to come back from a beating like that.

I felt sorry for Miranda to be honest. I felt bad for him in the same way you feel for a child who falls off his bike while learning to ride. Edison Miranda looked just a kid who glances back and sees that his father isn't holding him up anymore right before the bike crashes to the pavement.

I felt the stoppage was a little late with Miranda. His cornermen could have called it a day and come back and fought again. But this way Miranda might never recover his confidence or his skills.

It's weird because I had mixed feelings at that point. One part of me was saying save this guy before he really gets hurt, come back to fight another day. While the other part of me was still holding out hope that Miranda might land that one shot while Pavlik was moving forward and turn things around. I felt that Pantera just missed with a few big punches (credit to Pavlik for making him miss). More so than the fact that Miranda had a tough time fighting going backwards was the fact that he had difficulty timing Pavlik.

piss on Miranda. anyone that is too worried about getting a big pay day with Jermain Taylor when he is getting ready to fight someone as quality as Pavlik deserved the defeat he was handed.

Good advice. Advice, admittedly, that I may not be able to follow when Cotto demolishes "Big Mouth" Judah on June 9th.

While I am sure that it was hard on Miranda fans...it was a beautiful performance by Pavlik & very VERY surprising.

Just finished sitting through it again. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN-TIS-ASTIC!!!

No a big "fan" of either boxer per se
I though Pavlik looked sloppy and akward, but it didnt matter as long as he kept busy, and showed a good chin
Because you could tell early on that Miranda's only game plan was to throw two power shots, and hope he took him out early.
Problem is,Miranda doesnt have the footspeed to get out of there after he threw his two shots, and Pavlik would just tee off with those odd hooks of his while Miranda was standing there trying to figure out what to do next.
As long as Pavlik didnt go down in the first three,or get caught with a hard shot later,he was home free
