Default Ray Robinson does beat Mayweather at WW!!!

Wow the guy you always see on replays against Lamotta gets hit with silly punches, and is realitively passive though he throws the occasional combinations. Truth of the matter? He's a 35-38 year old fighting guys who are naturally 20-30 pounds heavier then him, and earlielr on he was fighting at his welterweight size at middleweight. My friend who has more resources than me procured full length welterweight fights of Robinson's that I've been watching, and he is a different man! He is as quick as Leonard throws combinations as smoothly Guzman, but with the KO power of Hearns. He still didn't have the greatest defense, but he had quick reflexes, and great footwork. I think one of Mayweather's greatest gifts and faults is his reliance on speed and defence. One god-given the other trained into him since he was a boy, but Robinson is way faster and hits harder than ODLH, and throws a lot better combinations with more importantly amazing stamina. I think he would have had troubles hitting Mayweather a whole lot just because he didn't fight any fighters like Mayweather especially guys as good defensively, and I also think Mayweather would have been able to tag Robinson, but Robinson was more aggressive when he was younger would have been too much for Mayweather. In 15 rounds I think Mayweather may even get stopped by Robinson but either way he loses. I've always said I rank things how I see them, and I have always try to be truly unbiased. This is an apology to all you guys who even though I doubt you've seen many if any welterweight moments of Robinson, and I bet a lot of people just want to fit in I still apologize to all for the hard time I've given you.

    robinson i feel was overrated.

when you compare him to roy jones and look how they fought roy would have boxed his ears off. well not boxed his ears off but he would have beat him by a wide UD

roy jones prime pound for pound in a vs match would have beat any one. i am not saying his the greatest. i am saying he is the best ever

I said Mayweather not ROy JOnes Jr. I think Mayweather is technically better than either Robinson or Roy JOnes, but he is lacking one thing. Power. I think Roy would beat either as well, but it would be interesting Mayweather might give him a hard time the same way Griffin did. If p4p Mayweather could handle his punch I think stylewise Roy would have a hard fight.

roy would have had a little trouble with mayweathers style. but he still would beat him easy. i see 8 rounds to 4 for jones. u have to remember on a pound for pound mayweather has got power, it only changed when he started to move up in the weights. i think jones would have been landing all night long on robinson because he had his hands low. another thing that would have worked well for jones is he had faster foot movement then mayweather. he used to go to the head then the body in a high low fashion. he had a powerful left hook and fast and could hit u with it 4 to 6 times.

jones power was so underated when he went to heavy he hurt ruiz in one of the rounds but chose not to step it up. does any on any one know what jones knock out record was when he was a middle weight and super middle weight

I can't see how people think Robinson was overrated. The only time he was stopped was when the heat got to him when he challenged Maxim for the light heavywieght title. He was able to comeback from his losses to Turpin, Basilio, etc., and beat them in the rematch. Most of his losses came near the end of his career. Personally, I don't think PBF could carry his spit bucket.

First off, that was at light heavyweight and Robinson was old. There are snippets of film of Robinson at welterweight, there are clips of his fight with Gavilan but I don't think I've ever seen a complete film.

And he's talking about a welterweight Robinson that went umm....undefeated in 96 straight fights against some of the greats. Don't need much film there....

    heres roy,may,mosley

Toney who's one of the best defensive fighters of all time. Roy was just phenomenal back in those days
Jones? He didn't get hurt for the first 15 years of his career, his skills were mostly reliant on his speed though, but he had great defense and reflexes because of it.

Jones was undefeated for 15 years, his first loss came when he was 35 years old..(of course, that DQ to Montell G. isnt a loss)he was unstoppable in his prime, a legend...

Its hard to believe that Toney now weighs over 16 stone easy when you watch him at 12 stone
