Any news on When the Contender III begins taping?

I know many of you don't like the show but I have enjoyed both seasons.

I knew they had taped it last year cuz I saw Gary Balletto in a supermarket... I have no idea if they've even done any casting for it.

    Any news would be nice...

    Thanks!

The new season will air for 10 weeks beginning in September and will feature fighters in the super middleweight division. One tweak for the forthcoming season: Viewers can expect to see more of the five-round bouts that end each show. In past seasons, the fights were heavily edited.

Hey this is the Super Middle Weight Division!
Maybe they will call Manfredo Jr. back to try his luck for the 3rd time.
    LMAO!

Sorry Pride Of Boston I just had to throw that in there.
    Don't get angry.

Your boy is staying busy and he is keeping his word about just wanting to fight.
I give him credit for that.
The kid sure has had to swallow a lot of that pride.

So the UK Vs. USA Contender wasn't officially a third season? I was thinking that whatever they did next would be considered IV.

I would love to see middle weights again. Its been a couple years there should be some new solid fighters out there.160 is the best class for speed and power combo.

The thing is the point of contender aside from something decent to watch is this..

Contender has its promotions company..And while they make theyr money by having the t.v show..

The main point is that they want to Build up these fighters and let the public see them and then take on the fighters who make a success of the competition..

So really its just scouting for talent by holding the contender competitions..

And theres only so much good talent they get anyway because in most cases prospects worth having on the show already have promoters..So they cant be signed up

Just a footnote on Peter Manfredo..... I live near Cardiff and went to the weigh-in for the Calzaghe fight. As a collector of boxing memorabilia I took along a number of photographs, gloves etc... to get them signed and the only person to refuse an autograph (on 3 seperate occasions) was Manfredo. He also did a work out at Steve Robinson's gym a few days earlier and was equally unaccomodating. It was easier to get autographs from Amir Khan, Joe Calzaghe, Sugar Ray Leonard and Manny Steward than it was from P.M. Jr. Not exactly what you'd call getting the locals on your side??!!

By the way, Manfredo looked petrified at the weigh in and I think his poor showing on the night was down to him being overawed by the occasion

Supermiddleweight is a pretty deep division. No chance you get Lacy on the show though, I would be so sorely disappointed plus 5 round bouts don't suit him. But the division is far from shallow, a lot of prospects and it thins out a little bit once you enter the top 10 but plenty of good prospects.

Ricardo Cortes the prospect from San Jose
    Joey Spina
Antwun Echols (I would be surprised if he isn't on the show)
    Fernando Zuniga
    Sam Soliman
    Hector Camacho Jr.
    Elvin Ayala

And then they always find guys with good stories who always seem to do good like Bravo last year. I hope they show the WHOLE fights though.

Why do people keep mentioning Joey Spina... The kid drew with Jose Spearman and got viciously KO'd by Manfredo Jr.
