Default Boxing needs more catchweight fights.

More fighters should think like Bhop and Winky.
Think of the possible great matchups.

cotto v hatton at 144 pounds? Cos cotto cant quite make 140 and hatton soesnt like fighting at 147.
    Taylor v Calzaghe at 164?
    DLH v Margarito 150?
    Tszyu v Gatti 144?
    RJJ v Calzaghe 172?
    Pac v Diaz 128?
Any other ideas? The possibilities are endless!

I think the implementation of catchweights, altough providing fantastic matchups and possibly boosting boxing's image to the general public may actually damage boxing in the long run.
For example Taylor-.Calzaghe. When 2 good fighters from different divisions meet one good fighter leading his division will win and another good fighter leading his division will lose.
Let us say for arguements sake Taylor wins.
This greatly boosts Taylors credibilty and Therefore the cred. of the middleweight division.
However a loss would leave Calzaghe severely comprimised and take away from the prestige of the entire super middleweight division.
Entertaining in the here and now, but negative effects in the future i think.

Doesn't this kind of take the point away from divisions? Surely these fights can be made at specific weights, rather than catchweights. Totally disagree with the idea really.

U may be right there poom he always looks natural at his weight and i have a feeling he may walk around about 173. He also runs a huge amount in training which would suggest that his body is just naturally that of a super middle as his weights have been pretty consistent for the past no. of years.

he says if he didn't box he would be about a 14 stone guy which is hm.. 196 ,

The catch weight fight id like to see is Vlad v Naseem Hamed at 235 ,
i know it would be a struggle but ithink Hamed could definatly get down to that wieght with a bit of effort
Remember reality is an illusion caused by a lack of alcohol .

By the way he also goes on about how much he loves eating, I can see that he would be a pretty big guy, he's got a fairly big frame as well, so getting all those pounds off must be a pain in the arse. He was saying after a few fights in 02/03 that he was struggling to make the weight and looking to move up, so probably getting to 165 would be beyond him, or it would be ahuge strain anyways.
