    Default Julian Jackson

I never seen a fight of his besides the clip of him KO'n Terry Norris till last night when I watched Verno Phillips vs. Jackon in 98. By that time Jackson was 37 and definatley past his best, but WOW what a fukin record. 54-5-49 KOs. Bernstein was goin on about how lethal his left hook was. So anyone have the privelage of watchin this guy live in his prime? Must have been one HELL of a puncher. Chinny though, McClellan KO'd him early twice and so did Mike McCallum.

He was great fighter mate i wana see more footage of him i've seen about 6 fights of his and his power was amazing p4p one of the hardest hitting ever if not the hardest very exciting to watch because it seemed he never had an easy fight he was bit rough round the edges and thats what makes him exciting and his kos are awesome.

The Hawk still stands as one off the most known 1 punch knockouters off all time.
I saw him beat Graham and that was vintage Jackson.
Not being concerned about being outboxed but patiently waiting for his shot.
Good trap, luering him in and as Graham was throwing a right hook coming in with a full force hook of his own.
You see him turning his body to get max leverage.
    Wonderfull KO

Unbelievable punching power, really likeable fighter and soooo exciting...But for his era he jus falls behind McCallum and G-man.

Although, id pay a pretty penny to have him round today. Jackson-Miranda? Jackson-Pavlik? Jackson-Abraham? and for all u people who don't like our current champ...Jackson-Taylor?

Want to say somethin smart but only got 2 words in my head in relation to these fights....Lambs & slaughter

I can only say that he was in my opinion the hardest 1 shot hitter of them all.
Julian used to 1 shot KO guys even at the very highest level.
If hard hitters carried TNT in thier gloves , Julian had an A-BOMB in either glove
    top fighter top guy ,

Damn, I will have to try and watch some more of his fights. He seems like a Tito Trinidad type to me. Now that would have been a good fight him against Tito.

Nobody hit harder than Julian Jackson. And that includes Trinidad.

I am not sure he falls behind Gerald McClelland. Gerald was good but to say he was ahead of Julian is not true. Julian fought longer and fought better guys than Gerald did for years. But I do admit he was behind Mike McCallum. I like Gerald's power but it was not the power of Julian. Julian landed very clean punches and landed them with full effect. The punch he landed on Terry Norris was set up.. Terry was throwing a punch and was caught cold. I couldn't believe that when it happened.

I agree with that point about the norris punch, I think Jackson when in the ring against superior boxers displayed an apt skill with ko counterpunches ie Graham and norris. His knockout of graham will live in my mind forever.

The reason i feel G-man was better was noty because he beat Jackson twice but to me Gerald was a more complete fighter with more well rounded skills and defensive qualities....

And to Violent demise im in total agreement, Jacksons power was far superior to Titos

His last few fights were way past his prime and he should not have even been in the ring actually....but then again that is a trend with greats so I really do not count the KO loss to Verno (not that losing to verno is anything to be embaressed about verno is just not a KO puncher) or Jones a true losses cause in his prime I say Julian walks through both...

AS for the KO loss to McCallum well The Body snatcher was a bad man in his day

As for the G-Man loss......Who the hell didn't Gerald KO??

I think that its a tribute to Jackson and his power that so many years after his retirement there's 3-4 threads on this forum dedicating to him alone
