    Default Return Of The Real

Alright Violent D is back. Some things went on in the boxing world why I was away. After some catching up, here's a recap on the previous 3 months events.

Just like I predicted, Jhonny Gonzalez beat up and retired Irene Pacheco.

The only 2 things Mr. Fraud himself Joe Calzaghe gained by beating Peter Manfredo was a broken hand and another excuse to avoid Mikkel Kessler. On the bright side, it is always fun to see Manfredo get his ass beat.

Even bigger Fraud, Nikolay Valuev gets his 0 token away by a smaller average fighter. We will no longer have to tolerate any ridiculous talk of Valuev threatening Rocky Marciano's record of 49-0. And to think Wacko said he was improving.

If Manny Pacquiao fights Juan Manuel Marquez the way he fought Jorge Solis he's getting knocked out

Acelino Freitas proved to the world that yes he is indeed a coward by quitting again. Juan Diaz deserves credit for the win. But no matter how many belts he collects, Joel Casamayor is still the true Lightweight Champion. Diaz (Juan, Julio and David) want nothing of Casamayor.

Floyd Mayweather showed the world why is he's clearly the best fighter breathing. His defense was beyond outstanding. Oscar De La Hoya landed only 21% of his punches. No one has ever made De La Hoya miss as much as he did. Tom Kaczmarek should be shot for scoring it for Oscar.

Kelly Pavlik proved me wrong when he stopped Edison Miranda. He's not a fraud. But I still don't see him beating Jermain Taylor, who pretty much just went through the motions in beating Cory Spinks.

    James Toney needs to retire.

Shanno Briggs is now considered an ex champion. Why was he even considered a champion in the first place? The WBO is a sad joke (see Joe Calzaghe, Artur Grigorian, Chris Eubank, Dariusz Michalczewski and Johnny Nelson great title regions). Sultan Ibragimov is nothing special.

The Miguel Cotto-Zab Judah fight was the one fight I hated to miss the most.. The outcome was the reason why. I taught Judah would be to fast for Cotto. So I gave him a great chance to beat Cotto. He was the faster fighter. But Cotto was the better fighter. Big props to Miguel. He continues to move on up, while Judah continues his descent.

Beating the 9 loss having Lovemore N'dou proves nothing. Paulie Malignaggi is still garbage.

In the 3 months I was locked up, nothing made me sadder than picking up the Daily News and reading the headline "Boxer Diego Corrales killed in motorcycle crash". It was a fucking shock. I didn't even believe it. I didn't want to believe it. I made collect calls to all 3 of my kids moms and had each one get online and confirm it. Sadly all 3 did. Rest In Peace Diego "Chico" Corrales. You were a fucking warrior.

You were a F****** warrior.
A good appraisal. I too am glad that Valuev is out of the picture. He's big but doesnt know how to impose that size effectively.

As for Calzaghe, well its looking like a Kessler fight may very well be going ahead after all. And I cannot wait for that one!

I doubt Pac would fight Marquez like he fought Solis. Its a fight that goes either way IMO. Its a shame that isnt a fight that is looking likely anytime soon.

Mayweather showed that he is untouchable all the way up to 154 pounds. Oscar was punching air all night.

    Toney. No comment.

    Briggs. Oh dear

Pavlik did show out against Miranda and looked exceptional. Imo he gives Taylor a huge run for his money.

I too thought Zab would be too much for Cotto to handle but sat back and just enjoyed the fight for what it was. Cotto has come on leaps and bounds and won well. Impressive.

Manny sort of toyed with Solis in early rounds. And then he got cut seriously by accidental headbutt so he knocked Solis' azz out.

Larios was just tune-up fight in prep for Pac-Morales 3. Solis was also a tune-up fight for whoever Pac's next elite opponent.

Gonzalez is awesome. Definitely the longest puncher at the lower weights and packs tremendous power in that right hand. He will be taking on Gerry Penosala here in Sactown as part of De La Hoya's World Cup of Boxing II.

Calzaghe needs to fight Kessler. He just has to and somehow, looks like this fight might actually be done but I won't believe a thing until the dotted line is signed and the fighters are in the ring. Even then I want to hear the bell just to make sure Calzaghe hasn't injured his hand on the ring walk.

Reading about Valuev losing his title was one of the happier moments. Valuev is bad. Just not that good of a fighter.
Freitas isn't a coward, he just doesn't respond well to being beat up. He provided a good test to Diaz, but Diaz overcame and really proved a lot. He had picked up a band of haters for a reason unknown to me, I don't see what's not to like about him, and he shut them all up. Good win for Diaz and an exciting one.

I agree Casamayor is the lightweight champion but if he remains stagnant much longer he won't be. He's a crazy dude, and he has the absolute worst luck in landing fights and scoring decisions. I really don't see many options for him. Diaz looks to be on his way to fighting Katsidis, and that is a bout that takes priority over Casamayor imo. Diaz is among my favorite fighters, I would fear for him the way he puts his head down against the uppercuts of Casamayor but would still probably pick Diaz to win. But I doubt that fight is made as both guys are going different directions. Maybe Casamayor can fight Nate Cambell, but I think Corrales may have been his last hurrah.

Mayweather is this generation's great. Definitely the greatest fighter I've had the opportunity to follow. There is not to much more to be said about that. I really hope he squares off with Cotto though, I really do.

Pavlik was good. He backed Miranda up and the thing was, everyone knew it was the straight punching of Pavlik that could win out but you didn't know if he had that X factor or not to stand in there. He did and he banged Miranda out. The guy is tough as nails and could be a big star in boxing. I know it would never happen, but I wish somehow that Taylor - Pavlik could get on network TV. It is just what boxing's needs.

Midwestern whiteboy who is balls to the wall and doesn't get cute in the ring versus Jermain Taylor, the good ole boy from Arkansas who rides around in ATVs and enters to Lynyrd Skynyrd. That's the type of thing that could peak a lot of interest. But it'll be tucked away from tens of millions of homes in America on the $20 a month HBO. Sad.

Toney needs to be in the ring no more.

Cotto came through in a big way. All along he was the better fighter, I thought the styles tipped in his favor and he went out and put on one of the biggest statements in years. He beat the hell out of Zab Judah. He just pounded him out and I have to believe that Miguel Cotto could be the baddest man in any boxing ring anywhere right now. Lots of people thought Miranda was that guy and now think Pavlik, but it's been Miguel Cotto all along imo.

About Corrales. Could not believe it when I heard it and actually slept on it the night of because I just didn't know. It was broke pretty fast here at Saddo's, one of Corrales' family friends posted it here and it was the type of thing that didn't get a link until a couple hours later so for that time nobody believed it but the guy was persistant and then the official word came from Corrales' manager on another site. It sucked.

I agree, Casa is da man to beat @ 135. He's too strong, fast, slick, and 1 dirty mofo!

Pavlik has great chance of beating Taylor. He's just technically better and strong.

    Shanno Briggs is an embarassment.

PBF did well against worn-out ODLH.
