I also read somewhere that he still has to pay $100,000 (or something like that) for fines for not making the weight in one of his past fights which he has to pay before the Hatton fight. Not sure how true this is

It says in the article that if he doesnt pay it by fight night then he will not be allowed to step in the ring.
Im sure Ricky will lend him the money if he cant pay it in time!!

Its a crying shame that a fighter of his pedigree and with the number of big fights he has had, that he was wiped out by that fine alone. Have his purses been that small and for so many fights at the top? He has been at the top for quite a few years now.

castillo fought for the fans and not to business minded but more fighter minded which is y where he is, we get on mayweather but u gota admit hes far from having money problmes

Agreed, CC. It's sad and a damn shame... I wonder if he has had any gambling/drinking etc. problems that have not been reported? He must have made some good money in some of his marquee fights.

Edit: For a guy who seems like such a bad mofo inside the ring, Castillo seems like a classy guy and a gentleman outside of the ring, and its unfortunate that bad things like this happen to guys like that.

Yeah, it just doesn't add up... I know fighters a lower weight classes probably make less than the more popular Heavyweights and such (excluding fighters like Pacman and Barerra of course), but you'd think after all the fights Castillo has had with the big name guys he would have some money stashed away... Either way, win or lose I hope he gets a true big money fight after the match with Hatton. $500,000 seems to be a pretty low number too considering he's fighting Ricky Hatton, who's got to be making millions off of this fight.

The most exciting boxers seem to be the less responsible when it comes to money.
