Default Fueling the fire of disliking Calzaghe and co.

I'm not a Cazaghe hater by any means.. and i know that the Mayweather/Hatton fight isn't official yet, but at least the fight has a date and a venue on boxrec.com, and it seems 100% possible that this fight is going to happen. So why is it such a HUGE deal for Calzaghe and co. to negotiate and get in the ring with Kessler, someone whom Calzaghe says he wants to fight.
This is my main dislike about Calzaghe, the crap he spits out of his mouth on TV about wanting to fight the best, and wanting to cement his legacy and all that stuff is so far fetched from the truth it seems.. You have the so called P4P Champ of the world in Mayweather, someone who loves money, who said he was retired and it seems that he'd only fight Oscar if he fought again (because of the payday), you have this guy getting irritated by something another boxer said, and now it seems that the contract is just about to be signed. How does THAT happen before Calzaghe/Kessler I understand that Palle has been somewhat difficult also, but damn, you are the champ, fight this guy wherever and beat his ass if you feel you're on such a higher level.. Nothing bothers me more than listening to Calzaghe talk on TV, telling us that he has no problem leaving his home and fighting wherever, and then it doesn't happen.. and as i said i don't hate Calzaghe, i just want to see this fight happen!!

Is anyone with me on this?

Calzaghe agreed to fight in denmark, he's got bottle and offers have been made to Hopkins/Taylor etc, he's not scarred. i blame warren, total f**k up of a promoter in my eyes.

If you look back to before he fought Bika and Manfredo (and unfortunately i wasn't really following Calzaghe too much at that point), don't you think that as he continues to climb up there in age, that he'd want to get these bigger fights in NOW before he gets older? I mean, with his record, and with 20 title defenses you would think he wouldn't waste his time with boxers besides the big names. I would just think that if i was Calzaghe, a fight with Kessler would have been right after the Lacy fight (if it was possible), and if not Kessler, then Hopkins/Wright/Taylor.

Kessler was not as talked about as much as he is now over a year ago, do you not think he has been trying to get these fights? He has been trying for years, do you think its a matter of i no right we will fight Hopkins ring him up Frank, ok right ive rung him the fight will be in 5 months time.

Calzaghe is in a constant lose lose situation....if he goes after Kessler he's missing Hopkins, if he fights Hopkins he's missing Taylor and Pavlik and Dawson....but if he goes after those guys he's ducking Kessler....if he fights in America he makes less money if he fights in England he's fond of home cooking.

Joe Calzaghe is a good fighter perhaps a great at 168 but he hasn't fought a PRIME fighter that is good or great who is in the same weight class.

I still think the Kessler fight will silence most of the haters......if he wins that is....if not they will discredit everything he has done up until now.....

Calzaghe versus Kessler is the only big fight in that division. No one is really that interested in that division over all. It is a stop over for most fighters. Joe and Mikkel need to fight.

Mikkel Kessler so he can claim to be the best middleweight in the world and not the other guy besides Calzaghe in the division.

Joe Calzaghe so he can actually have a legacy. If he does not get a few top names on his resumes beofre he retires he will always have a question mark next to his name. No one wants to work hard all their life and end up with a question mark by the people you have been trying to make a statement to

True as that may be, Bigrag...it is a sad sad sad fucking state of affairs.

Calzaghe deserves respect for what he has accomplished & as Lyle said...no matter what...it's lose lose for him.

sorry if i seem a bit cold here but it's no ones fault but his own, he's wasted too much time fighting nobodies in his own backyard, and well if Frank Warren wont get you the big fights, well do like B-Hop and give him the boot, i mean if Hopkins had the balls to walk away from Don King, why the hell would Calzaghe not walk away once his contract expires, and don't tell me he hasn't re-signed with Warren more than once, i mean King would probably love to get his hands on Calzaghe, and probably would get him better fights, and if not him at least we know that going to goldenboy alone would get him two of the big pay days he's been "asking" for (Wright/Hopkins)

completely agree... hbo is the hold up... THE FIGHT WILL HAPPEN...

both kessler and calzaghe are dead set on this fight...

if the fight does happen... will all of you get off his a$$ for not taking fights probably not

kessler is the most dangerous fighter minus recogntion calzaghe could have possibly fought... its like PBF-margo little name recognition but big name talent... its the riskiest fight he could have accepted...

respect calzaghe when they fight... even if calzaghe looses, kessler is very dangerous... kessler is a better version of pavlik

The problem is that deep down inside, I doubt Calzaghe really wants this fight. He was pressured into the Lacy fight (and even than he postponed it twice) and now he's being pressured into the Kessler fight. And Kessler is twice the fighter Lacy is. So Calzaghe losing is a big possibility. Kessler is not one of those obscure bums that Calzaghe built his record off. So I'm not surprise to see the difficulties in making this fight.

Man do you ever give it a rest? What is it with you and British fighters? Some Brit kick your ass back in the hood once upon a time? Please pressured into fighting Lacy? Calzaghe didnt need to take that fight he got a modest pay packet and showed what a champion he is, and he aint ducking Kessler, how do you work that out? Warren and him have signed the contract and waiting.
