Just read his bio recently. He beat Carpentier when he was supposed to take a dive. Another guy who unfortunately was the wrong color for his era. He was portrayed as some creature from the jungle, but in reality he could speak five or so languages and said he never even saw the jungle. Not sure how he'd do against today's LHW's, but he was certainly a great fighter.

He was a decorated veretan in the French army in WW1. I have his bio in my library.

Saw a great French-made documentary about Siki once, Went to Senegal and the place he came from, then to Rotterdam where he lived and finally to Hell's Kitchen. What an amnazing life. His first job in France was a gigolo and he used to stroll down the Champs Elysse with a lion on a leash.
