Default Fenech: Why Hatton will beat Mayweather

    http://www.sportsnut.com.au/category.php?intid=7

Boxing legend Jeff Fenech has defied the prediction of his old trainer Johnny Lewis to publicly predict a Ricky Hatton victory against Floyd Mayweather.

FENECH MAKES SOME GOOD POINTS. HATTON HAS A SIMILAR STYLE TO JEFF, WHO WAS VERY HARD TO TURN BACK AT HIS PEAK

I think the only way HAtton can win is if he gets in quickly and ties Mayweather up on one side and punches on the other. THats how Oscar Dela Hoya got all those hooks to the body, and landed the few punches on the ropes that he did also thats how Castillo fought such a close fight with Mayweather. You have to tie him up or he'll beat you on the inside or outside.

Interesting what he said about Floyd he does nothing offensively when the other fighter is on top of him just that wierd eel like squirming. It's bloody good like a customised Mayweather philly shell , someone has to work out a way of hitting him he can't be that clever.

Jeff was always one of my favorite fighters hard as nails in his prime
im not surprised he goes with Hatton , and to be fair i dont think its impossible for Ricky to win , although he will be huge underdog
i met Jeff in Melbourne last year and he still looks in pretty good shape, top guy

Well i dont see Ricky being a huge undergog at all, the bookies go Mayweather 4/7 Hatton 5/4 at 147, far from being a huge underdog, it will be a very competitive fight. No doubt about it.

Hatton definately has a chance against Mayweather, the problem is Mayweather is so good he will find away to counter the style of Hatton by mid fight and win a UD. It will be a tough fight for him though.

I think Hatton can win this fight confusing Mayweather with his style, punching, grabbing, hitting to the body, putting pressure all the time. It promises to be a very interesting match, probably more than the fight with De La Hoya...

I hope Floyd or Leornard Ellerbe don't read this, I agree with Fenech as to how this fight goes, I'd pick Hatton every day of the week, styles make fights, I've been calling for this fight for 3 years now and I'll never be satisified as a boxing fan until the bell rings for round one of Hatton v Mayweather.

What does Fenech know? Mayweather would do to Hatton what Calvin Grove did to him.

There seems to be 2 main schools of thought in boxing when it comes to predictions by trainers and pundits. People like Harold Lederman, Dan Rafael, Greg Leon etc. that will always pick guys like Mayweather every day of the week no matter who is fighting them, they'll trash anyone who doesn't box like they do in the book but are champs, Like Hatton or Margarito etc. And then there's guys like Brian Kenny, Joe Tessitore, Manny Steward and Fenech who like fighters, they're the type of guy that would pick Duran against Leonard, or Hatton against Mayweather, they'd at least give them a chance anyway.

The big difference is Hatton is not even close to being Duran. He has no chance. You should be banned from ever posting here for using Hatton and Duran in the same sentence. It's an insult to Duran, Saddo and the whole boxing community for you to do that.

You don't think that left hook to the body is reminiscent of Roberto? Hands of stone would be proud of a body shot like the one Hatton crumbled Castillo with.

Please. Duran fought and beat fighters in there prime. Hatton's 2 biggest names were both past there prime and hadn't really been active. Hatton wouldn't be fit to even be a sparring partner for Duran.
