6'1
Floyd cut down chico (r.i.p.) and would do the same to williams, i belive he's 6"1' although some say 6"2'. Height would be a huge advantage for williams but floyd is too smart in the ring. It would be just another gimmick at this point. williams to tall, baldomir to strong, gatti to tough, the list goes on.

Im sorry, mismatch Are you on glue... Mayweather just beat DLH at 154 just as convincingly as Williams did Margarito, though it wasn't as entertaining a fight, Oscar is still a MUCH better fighter than Margarito was. If your referring strictly to the natural size of both men then I can understand your point, but to call it a mismatch on any other level is ridiculous. Mayweather is the best p4p fighter out there, lineal welterweight champ who just beat another great at 154, giving up a lot of size in that fight as well. I would love to see Williams and Floyd get it on as much as anyone but Mayweather is not going to be the underdog in any fight unless he steps up to middleweight. Mismatch my ass.Originally Posted by Jimboogie
On papper he was just 2 inchest taller than Margarito. It looked more like 6 inches on TV.
Williams - PBF missmatch of the century.....this would be the overstatement of the century.
However, it would be a tough fight for Floyd.
Williams is class above Corrales no disrespect to Corrales.Originally Posted by Mar

How long should a fighters legs be you ask? Long enough to reach the ground.
If ANYONE connects vs Floyd they have a chance....Originally Posted by sexydarin
1 reason I like Cotto is he doesn't care where he hits you just as long as he hits you hard
Williams throws enough punches and uses his mobility and height very well but I do recall his defense suffered vs the faster guys but he has really yet to be knocked down or even close to being down
i'm just not sold on Williams. it may be his lack of power. if 95 of 100 punches he throws couldn't dent a pillow, do those punches really mean anything? his pitty pat, slap boxing style just irritates the hell out of me. it works for him but i find it frustrating to watch. i'm not hatin on him but does any of you know what i mean?
....Margarito had never been KO'd so I'm sure they just LOOKED harmless but Toni can take a damn punch
But Williams is a much more daunting proposition than Coralles.Originally Posted by Mar
For a start Corrales absolutely towered over Floyd and he's only 5 ft 11, Williams is 6 ft 2 and the size difference would look as great as Valuev against Monte Barrett.
Floyd is offically 5 ft 8 but he's the smallest 5 ft 8 man I've ever seen he looks tiny in the ring no matter who he's fight, I'd be suprised if he's taller than 5 ft 7.
So you have a natural superfeatherweight going up against a natural middleweight.
If you've noticed Floyd's wins are getting harder since he moved up. Baldomir he refused to engage at all, Judah was a tough fight especially early and Oscar could have beaten Floyd had he only utilised his jab.
Williams is not on Floyd's level but he's also not a real welterweight, he's a middleweight who somehow manages to make that weight.
Also unlike Corrales he doesn't wait to throw his punches. Corrales stalked Floyd without throwing, Williams will do nothing but throw.
It's not an unwinnable fight for Floyd but it's sure a much more daunting proposition than Corrales.
Height aside Williams is nothing like Corrales whatesover so a comparison can't even be made.
I know alot of people are gonna give me shit, but I think Paul Williams beats Floyd Mayweather, its a nightmare matchup for Floyd. Just because of Williams style, Floyd would be forced to go on the offensive. I dont think Floyd has the power to knock him out, and if he spends the round avoiding and countering Williams hes gonna lose on output just like Margarito.Throw in the 6'1" southpaw and it is definately a very interesting matchup, I know Williams wants it, lets see what Floyd has to say....
I like Williams style because he wins rounds early before people can adjust. He also mixes up his shots alot throwing some nice counter uppercuts on Margarito, lead right hook jab left cross, just constant combos that change up. Margarito took awhile to figure him out, and I think it was Paul just gassed out a little, he seemed to be fresh in the 12th tho.
You hit the nail on the head. Corrales was not throwing nothing. Corrales nothing but a brawler. He could not box and he was not very fast.Originally Posted by Bilbo
All Williams has to do is pump that jab and stay on the outside and he can beat Floyd in his sleep.
Like you said, Williams does not wait to let his hands go.
There is also the fact that after that fight with Mayweather, Corrales was going to do Prison time for beating on his old lady. Going to prison was weighing very heavy on his Chico's mind. This is not an excuse, it's a fact. Corrales was not even in that fight. He was already doing time in his head.
