Hello Monkey, Thats horrible when that happens, very frustrating, (although i rarely have to worry bout that problem at middle.) Mayb get him a spar with some regional champs or even pro's to boost his morale and give him a lil senseof achievement

    ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I hate this part, waiting for the contracts, and playing phone hockey
This ones even twitchier because she's a last second fill
I hate the negotiations,I hate the buisness end
    Pay us,we'll be there
Im good at riding the lines, but it doesnt mean I have to enjoy it
    Excuse me,Im just venting
Im happier laying out gameplans, and barking over peoples shoulders
    Rather then waiting for phonecalls,etc,etc

Being a last second fill in might be a good thing - they haven't had time to decide Leslie's too dangerous and they really want a match!

Tell ur boy to keep training hard. The fights will be there. I would've had another 20+ amateur fights if this kinda thing never happened. He doesn't & shouldn't like it but it's part of amateur boxing. This will make him better in the long run. Although he didn't get to fight, he did get some mental training. That's still a type of experience. His mind also needs to be trained along with his body. Enough times on the mental roller coaster & he will evolve to be able to better control his state of mind.

Good luck with the other fight that ur trying to get worked out. In the pros this is the kind of situation that can go a long way. Ur girl need to always stay in shape & ready. U never know when a call will come. When these kind of fights come up & u take them u want to have a good showing. U never know who's watching & what doors could open up from it.

    Again, good luck.

    All good points
Kept trying to warn Talley that this could, and would happen to him, well now it has
Give my boy credit,he was right back in the gym like the fighter I trained, not the guy who was close to giving up that I got.
As far as the second part, this is the worst part(I dont know if your trainer/manager ever mentioned it) waiting on the freaking contracts.
Both camps can be totally all in,and then it can totally fall apart when it comes to contracts, and you just have to sit there with your thumb up your butt waiting

My situation has usually been pretty good for me. I have been fortunate enough that my mgr & promoter were on the same team (in so many words). More often than not I was fighting on the shows that my guys were puttin on. And if it was another show, then nmy people was in close with that promotion co. So I guess my opponent was the one that was probably goin thru the contract headaches.

If snags did occur (and they could have) I didn't hear much about it. There was one time that things was yo-yo'ing for a while but that's just part of the biz. The rest was usually little things that were easily worked out.

Don't sweat it (easier said than done, I know). It will work itself out. Good luck.

Im more or less on the same page as our promoter, but I swear,if all the females who backed out during negotiations were counted as NC wins, she'd have the best middleweight record out there
Man I got more details on this weeks debacle, the Amateur champ WAS there, but didnt fight
    I smell something

And this is why I hate the buisness end
The promoter scratched it(we have suspicions about why)
Would have been at the 14000 capacity Raley Field
    We're being garunteed her next fight,but still,a week of,"Its done,its done,its done" and poof

I hate politics - not just boxing related but in the workplace - anywhere - it always seems to be just a monumental pain in the a**!

Did the promoter scratch the fight because the girl got cold feet? Or they wanted an easy home town victory? What do you think?

Makes you wanna become a promoter yourself so you don't have to deal with this s**t i bet!

So annoying for FeuerFrie! I'd volunteer to take a fight against her just to give her a bout but alas no one likes seeing bantamweight debree squished all across the ring by middleweight muscle - they wanna see a competitive match. Being in Australia makes it kinda logistically difficult too!

Here,Ill lay it out, welcome to the world of being a manager

The promoter swears that Raley Field wanted a local boy on the card,a bout had to get tossed, and he picked the female bout because it was big ticket low reward on pay
He also Swears he wants this fight booked
Ngyuen's manager SWEARS that Leslie is Demi's next opponent
    But
Our promoter is putting together a card for October 5th,and there is no way in hell that Demi puts enough butts in the seats to make it worth her fee out here
    So
We have to have something booked for at least the back end of August, otherwise WV's 30 day rule may come in to effect, meaning on the odd chance there's a knockout,Leslie wont be able to fight on October 5th
Thus severly pissing of our promoter, and running the risk of a lawsuit for breach of contract
Aint the politics of boxing a freaking blast?

Seems strange to drop the female bout.

I know a lot of people don't like women's boxing but come fight night female bouts get attention simply because you don't see them as often.

    Female spectators love it too.

The guys who are just watching coz their mates are going and don't know anything about boxing at least get to have a perve (sorry Monkey but they will) - odd choice on behalf of the promoter!
