    Default Paul Williams???

Now that we have Cotto/Mosley, and Hatton/Mayweather who do you think PW will fight next? Cintron is also scheduled to fight in Sept. The only logical opponent I really see is a rematch with Margarito. Do you see him holding out for a different fight? What do you guys think?

He might be wise to get a mandatory out of the way since he can't get a big fight at the moment. Anybody know who the WBO's #1 contender is? Maybe a fight with Clottey.

I was hoping we'd see Williams vs. Cintron but that don't look like it's happening.

I would like to see Williams vs. Clottey.

if I'm 147 I wouldnt be rushing out there to fight Williams. I have never seen so many punches thrown, and he very fast too. fights well inside and out. Tall.. He has everything needed to make it tough on the short blokes.

After beating Margarito,he's taken over Margarito's mantra of being the most avoided guy. He's huge and on a 10 points must system, almost impossible to beat purely because of his work rate. I'd like to see a Margarito rematch at some point or a fight with Clottey but I think Clottey is the one guy PW does not want to face. Also,Clottey is fighting Felix Flores sometime soon.

I like Clottey but would certainly not take him over Williams. Clottey is a very efficient inside, shoulder to shoulder puncher and he has that Winky Wright style of defense that works well for him but he basically has no game from the outside and he tires late a lot.

Williams should probably just wait out the big fights while taking a lesser fight, maybe Joel Julio or something and wait for Cotto or Mayweather.

Thanks for posting those. I'd assume Jennings (who the hell is this guy and how does the WBO justify rating him that high??) is #1 since he was in the #2 spot, though sometimes when the former champ is dethroned he is made the de facto #1 contender. I think, though, you can sometimes get credit for a mandatory by facing anyone in the top 3 (actually that may just be an IBF rule...Wlad apparently got credit for a mandatory against Brewster because he was in the top 3 of their rankings).

Anyway, looks like Clottey is the most attractive bout he's going to be able to get at the moment. Clottey has a bout coming up in August, I believe. Clottey is desperate for some (deserved) recognition, so I'm sure he'd take the the fight.

First point. What the hell is Michal Jennngs doing above Clottey. I almost chocked on my sandwich.

Why not Judah. I see that being a good fight.

I think Paul Williams first order of business should be looking for a new trainer/ corner. Hes going to have to step it up a little soon and needs a corner that can take him to the next level. He throws a lot of punches and yeah he beat mitchell like he stole something, but i think the general game plan for anyone fighting williams next is to let him wear himself out with that busy punch rate and then rip into him. In the last couple of rounds of the margarito fight, Williams looks like he'd stumble, take a flash knock down or combination of the two because of fatigue.

His corner should work on increasing his work in the gym and the decreasing his work in the ring. He needs to work smarter not harder. At this rate, he'll burn himself out early. i would match him with someone like judah.. Who starts fast would have trouble getting to him .. and fades late also.... This would be a good fight thats not overly tough for Williams. Any smart fighter that will look to save himself and catch williams late stands a better chance that most people think.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Hell why not a rematch with Margarito, 1st fight was intriguing and i wouldn't mind seeing it again + its not like there is any 1 else available.

I didn't notice him getting overly fatigued at all in the Margarito fight. Even in the 11th when Margarito landed several solid power shots Williams never really got on his bicycle and kept throwing punches. Even in that round he had enough energy to make Margarito miss badly on several shots. In the 12th Williams burst out of the corner like it was the first round and threw over 100 punches yet again. It was Margarito who appeared gassed at that point. Williams has remarkable stamina, and I think anyone trying to wait for him to get tired before getting busy is going to wind up on the losing end of a wide points decision.
