Default The Future Of Boxing in Trouble???

I won't mention any names so this way no one can start making claims and cause arguements by saying I am biased towards one fighter or another....

    With that being said.....

I do not see future greats in out new wave of fighters....I see a few good guys but no one that makes you say "DAMN"......

Where are the future Mayweathers,, De La Hoyas, Leonards, Lewis,, Barreras....

I just do not see it....These new fighters are all over confident,,,The all believe they are already P4P greats and 99% have not even made a run in the top 5 yet....

I do not know if it is just the mind set of these new guys or the fact that all the top trainers seem to only want to work with established pros?.....

Like I said some of these new guys are pretty good but I do not see anyone as a future great.....

    Maybe it is just me...

Not sure I think Cotto is well on his way to becoming a great, Williams maybe too. Pavlik could do great things and who knows if Kessler upsets Calzaghe we have a new star.

In the lower divisions Jorge Linares looks pure quality.

I think the main reason you would think this is because the Americans had a really shitty time at the last Olympic games so it gives the impression nobody is coming through.

But I think there is definitely talent coming through, we just need to hope they get a lot of exposure on mainstream free tv.

I dont know how about Kessler , Pavlik ,and Berto? I know Berto is one of the over confadent ones and some were not impressed with his last outing ,but he is one of the young guns that Im looking forward to seeing what he can do.

    Oh almost forgot Cotto.

Those guys are already established...Cotto is a two div champ and in the P4P deservedlt...Pavlik is already on the big stage...

I am talking about these kids that are 12-0.... 13-0.....none are overly impressive....it is as almost you really don't even see potential when comparing them to others at the same point and time in their carrers....

Ah to be honest I don't know many fighters that are 12-0. Andy Lee I guess and of course us Brits have Amir Khan who along with Louis Hamilton carries the future of British Sport on his shoulders

Thinking about it there are a few, Ward, Dirrell, Petersons, Chambers, Arreola etc. As I said before the main reason for it is that both America and the UK had crappy Olympics last time out so no new stars emerged or were hyped.

If you Yanks had won a few Gold medals at the olympics you would have your future stars, as it is they all did crap so the spotlight was taken off all those guys coming through and turning pro at that time. They will turn up just a bit later into their careers.

All great fighters had to start from the bottom and work their way up.

Doubting our prospects is not a good contribution to the boxing sports.

Some prospects will fail, and some will succeed and become one of the greats someday.

There's great fighters on their way. They always have shown up and they always will show up. Just need to be patient. We have like 20 really significant fights this year and again the cries that the sport is in trouble . It'll be fine just block out the media and the naysayers that say boxing will be eclipsed by anything else.

There'll always be disappointments, but boxing isn't in trouble. Boxing might not have the same kind of exposure like it did years ago, and there's not much poster boys that we can expect on the horizon. But one thing for sure is that big money fights are still going to happen. Even if the talent isn't there, there's a lot that can be done with good matchmaking.
