    Default Israel Vasquez underrated?

It puzzles me how his great win got so little credit on this site. There were a few topics raised about the fight, but not a lot. I mean the guy just ko'd a top 5 p4p guy in Marquez, and he has had two recent wins before that against Larios and Gonzales. Would anyone have Vazquez top 5 p4p now? I would.

No, not yet. Maybe when he beats Marquez again convincingly.

Right now he's more like no.8 (tied with Rafael) p4p best fighter to me.

CC eagle, You hit the nail right in the head. Alot of pleople do not recognize when a fighter is giving everything to the fans ie."Morales". And those hard fought fights take a toll on their body and are carreer ending fights. Vazquez is a great fighter and in my book he already is in the top five. But after this trylogy what will most likely happen to both Vazquez and Marquez is that they will have damaged their carreer and people will be so quick to jump and say that they are are done and washed up just like what they did to Morales and Gatti forgeting all the wars they gave us and all the exiting fights. Just put it this way Mayweather or Hopkins when have they gave us a good exiting fight where are they in the top 5 p4p?

Not by me, I picked him to win both fights. Hes still 29 so, hes got some time to build on his reputation. I agree tho, he doesnt get much love on this site, maybe because the strong support for Marquez, a few posters on here think he's the best thing since sliced bread....

I just admire the fact that he came back from a bad loss and won convincingly. How many guys do that against a great fighter such as Rafa Marquez?

I thought since the first fight that they were both pretty much equals. I never understood why Marquez was so high on the p4p list and Vazquez, a man that had given him a real tough fight and looked to have the momentum at the time of the stoppage, was left completely out.

Maybe nither of them should be there or maybe both. But where ever you have Marquez, be sure to have Vazquez right next to him.

Well Marquez has alot of fans who spuzz over him on here. The praise isn't going to be forthcoming from people who didn't want to see it.

Well look at it this way, not a lot of people follow the smaller guys as you might have noticed.... The ones that occasionally do only know or follow the champs or the top guys.
The ones that do follow the smaller guys will tell you that Vasquez is a beast and is someone to reckon with... Don't believe me go watch Larios III, or the Gonzalez fight and tell me he ain't a beast.....

Vasquez I would say is slightly underated but by people who don't follow the smaller guys... Talk to anybody here who follows the little guys and they'll tell you Vasquez is one of the best. No if's and but's.

(Whatever you do DON'T ask the hobbit Bilbo about the little guys, his answer will be 'I can kick their ass' :P ) )

I agree that Vasquez is underrated. Marquez probably is too. There was hardly anybody at that fight. Promoters didn't do a good job with that.

I certainly underated him, I didn't think he was as good as Rafael Marquez.
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!

The first live card i ever watched on tv had vasquez as the main event (was either a friday or wedsenday night fights. Might even have been tuesday for some reason). After that fight and seeing that he had an amature record of 58(5-0-0, i was a fan.
