    Default Tito v RJJ:signed for Jan 2008??

That is the latest info I'm getting from a few sources including boxing scene and boxingtalk.

2 of the best fighters of this generation and all time greats and BOTH are fricking ruining their legacies fighting for too long and incurring losses they did not need to!

If Tito loses,he will most likely retire giving fuel to his critics about his retiring after losses and if Roy loses,it could very well be even worse,as he is by far and away the favourite, the bigger stronger man!

I'll watch the fight because I love both guys so much but I'm not that interested.

I though I read something about Roy not wanting to wait till January and thinking about fighting someone else.

Roy is being a bitch wanting to beat on little Trinidad. When he beats up on Tito what does it mean? What does it prove? Pretty much nothing. And what is Tito thinking? That he's gonna get one big shot in and KO Roy Jones Jr.? Sad thing is that if it is this close to being signed, or is signed, then we can all forget Roy and his promoter's talk about facing Zolt Erdei or more importantly Glen Johnson in November. NO WAY would they take such a risky fight when a mega fight pay day with Tito is just around the corner. DAMNIT!!! I'll watch the Tito vs. Jones fight, but there are so many better fights out there for both of these guys.

I just saw what you saw at the two sites mentioned. I, like you, have mixed emotions about this fight. I am glad to see these two greats back in action but am concerned as to what will be the end result. More so for Trinidad who is taking a huge risk. You gotta gand it to the kid. He just does not take an easy fight.

I wonder at which weight this will be.

Agree 100% with this last statement. Jones can fight Erdai and then fight Hokins or try and avenge one of his losses(though I don't think he can succeed on this). Tito could try to make 160 and do a hole lot of damage there. I don't see anybody he can't beat in that division....uless Winky comes back .

There are better fights out there for both guys, but none will provide a bigger pay check.

Is this some kind a damn joke? Who in the hell want to see this fight. I never liked Tito but at the same time i always respected him and i don't want to see him ruin his legacy even more and I'm really getting sick or Roy Jones. He has became a big joke! Why the hell would you want to fight someone that hasn't fought in more than two years and never fought above 160? Even though Roy is more washed up than a sock that was left in the washing machine for 3 months i still think he can beat Tito. He is only fighting him because Tito is a big name and a big pay day and i am sick of this. Roy need to either fight some real competition so he can try to redeem his career or go sit his wack rapping ass down! UP YOURS ROY

This fight has no appeal to me what so ever......Both past their time...Trinidad has not been in the ring for a long time.....Roy is no longer a draw or does he make you want to watch him....His bouts have become the opposite of the masterful performances they once were.....Tito is way undersized...what he gets KO'd then retires AGAIN.......

No Thanks they can keep it

I really have lost all interest in Roy. He was one of my all time favorite fighter...and now he is acting like some sideshow. How could it have gone this terribly wrong?! After the Ruiz fight he was on top of the world...and then the devastating losses against Tarver and Johnson. So he follows by fighting some stiffs...and now he will fight a shot big name who is smaller than him. The whole thing is really sad.

I would like to say something. Trinidad is not shot. He might be inactive, he might be past his prime, he might have some serious ring rust. But he is not shot.

I'm sure this fight will be entertaining in many levels.

With that said, I see why Jones is doing this. He is trying to get back in the limelight and get some big money fights and what better way to do it than to beat a highly recognizable future hall of famer in Felix Trinidad.

What I don't understand is what the hell is Trinidad getting out of all this. Why Jones? Why 170? His fighting a highly dangerous opponent in a weight he should never be fighting at.

At least Roy had some tune ups but Tito is just coming out a two and a half year layof. Why is he doing this?

completely agree with you and RJJ is my fav fighter of all time but one question i have is.. before john ruiz whens the last time he fought a legimate contender? i mean. i understand the division was shot but he couldve moved down to fight hopkins again when he was at peak of his prime but he kept ducking all the big names and blamed money as an excuse.

going back he fought harding in 2000, vigil hill in 98, griffin 97, toney 94 and hopkins 93 and the rest of the no namers. RJJ is way past his prime and he should stop embarrasing himself and just retire . he shouldnt pick on a welterweight and fight Glen johnson to venge his ugly ugly loss then call it a career

This fight didn't make sense when it was lined up in 2001 and it makes even less sense now. What a garbage "big" fight.

But as is the case with ANYTHING RJ, I won't believe this til the fighters are in the ring.

Trinidad has already signed and Jones is reviewing the contract but expected to sign shortly. I dont know, Trinidad has a problem with elite boxers, especially at Middleweight and up. This fight is a a catchweight of 170. Bad new for Tito cause he cant match Jones at 170 power or physicality in general. Even washed up Jones should beat Tito at this weight with little problem.

This matchup stinks, not at all interested. Two past it fighters trying to grab that last big purse....neither of the two interests me right now. I just hope Tito is getting a truckload of money for this....No disrespect to either's career, they were both great, but IMO they are past it....
