I think Mosley could beat mayweather, and I think if Oscar fought him again he would win
I've had this discussion many times. Luckily for me all my friends and my family are die-hard boxing fans. The majority of them think Mayweather will lose to someone who brings the fight to him and pours the pressure. For example, Hatton, Cotto, or the bigger De La Hoya(I knew he wouldn't pull it off). Fighters like Hatton and Cotto come in like a bull and Mayweather will stick them with shots then move when they get within range.
I personally think a fighter like Shane Mosley or Paul Williams would eventually dethrone PBF. PBF has to be outboxed not overpowered. I think Sugar Shane has the tools to beat him, but not at this point being that he's already weathered. Even if PBF and Mosley fought last year, I still think Mosley would've gotten him. Mosley has the speed, the footwork, the ring generalship, and the power to make PBF look human.
Mosely might stand a decent chance...floyd would beat oscar everytime he fought him imo, but if i had to choose just one person right now i'd say paul williams, being as tall as he is and more importantly fighting on the outside and using his height along with his high punch rate would give him the best chance....now how many of will, none of them.

I woudln't pick anyone to beat him, but I think Paul Williams would have the best shot with his height and constant pressure.

Hatton
Paul Williams on points and Cotto on ko.

First I think on Hatton and Cotto who will put pressure thru 12 rounds and may be able to take Mayweather out of his rhythm. Williams may have some chances also due to his reach advantage, if he is able to maintain the focus thru 12 rounds. But, it will not be an easy task at this moment.
Puerto Rico, Small Island, Big Champions!!!
I think both Hatton and Cotto are now in their prime and both will have a chance in the next 12 months.
I think Floyd will beat Hatton this year but he will find it a lot tougher to do so than a lot of people think,
Hatton is very good and will give Floyd a lot of trouble, Cotto will apply a lot more pressure than DLH
and punches harder. I don't think Williams can beat him and Mosley is 36 this year and any fight with Floyd won't be made until at least May next year, time has been beaten Shane.
Mayweather has fought swarmers before a fight that comes to mind is Jesus Chavez vs Floyd Mayweather Jr Chavez put pressure on every round throwing 100 punches near enough every round yet he missed alot of punches and Mayweather in the end started to batter him i really don't think pressure is the way to beat Mayweather.Originally Posted by Puerto Rican Punch
I don't have an answer, but just wanted to say that fast defense-first boxers are the toughest to beat because they're not looking to KO you, and thus really don't put themselves at risk. Did anyone really beat pernell in his prime? I guess trinidad eventually got to him (although he was past his prime) so the answer probably lies in a fighter with a powerful, fast, and precise jab mated to a long arm...not unlike the way hearns was able to handle leonard.
i've seen floyd have some trouble with guys who pressure him and get very close, but no one has been able to put him over the edge.
None
IF cotto can beat mosley by more than a razor thin decison then i would consider him a real threat, if he is able to handle shanes speed and movment then i think he could have a chane at beating floyd, even if floyd blocks cottos punches i think they will still hurt him and over 12 rounds he might be able to do enough... i would favr mayweather heavily tho...
Paul williams is imo the most realistic threat to floyd, mayweather is gunna have to out-box him, and tbh with williams stupid reach and he as great speed i honestly can see him out pointing floyd... i don't think hes a better boxer, just a freak.
Ive got a funny feeling in my water that Hatton will do the deed. Rarely gets hit with 2 shots because of movement, and wont use the jab for distance he will make Flyod throw the first shot and only work when it s time to. I think were in for a classic I really do

Whoever thing think Cotto can beat him i wish they would just shut the hell up already! The only person that would now, is Paul Williams because he throw so many punches with those long arms and Floyd would have a hard time landing clean shots. Especially with William's height. Williams just throw pitter pat shots and i bet his punches feel like someone hitting you with a pillow but he still rack up points.
