    Default Cotto v Mosley

I know Cotto is exciting - younger - bigger - punches hard etc etc , but is it only me who gives Shane a real chance ?
I mean Cotto is slow of hand and foot in comparison to Mosley.
It will be a classic clash of styles and im putting my head on the block for a Mosley win inside 7 , but i like both fighters so im not to fussed

I believe Cotto will knock out Mosley. Mosley's style will be in vain if he gets hit by a knock out punch from Cotto.

I think this is going to be one of the biggest fights the garden has ever seen. Was seriosuly considering going to this, but it's too soon to the calzaghe v kessler card for me sadly.

This will defo be one of the best fights of this year.

Id go for Mosley by UD.
He's a couple inches taller, has a longer reach, is much faster, by far the better boxer and has a cool head on top of those vastly experienced shoulders.

Cotto is a good fighter but he will be expose by a Living Legend name Sugar Shane Mosley come October and he will be stopped in 9 rounds.

Having just watched several of Cotto's fights, including the Cotto/Judah, I'm not very convince he will be able to deal with a REAL, seasoned professional of Mosley's elk; even an 36 years young SSM. A former boxer myself, I was watching the Cotto/Judah fight and I envisioned myself throwing punches through all of those openings Judah left open. Judah simply would not pull the trigger even though Cotto was wide open. With Mosley, those same openings will be exploited over and over again. I think, despite Cotto's repute as a hard puncher, I do not see much explosion in his punches. He is more heavy handed than a hard puncher. While he is a committed body puncher, I just think his methodical boxing style is just to predictable to beat someone like Mosley. I see Mosley taking some good body shots only to retaliate with some very fast and hard overhand rights and uppercuts. I actually envision Shane stopping Cotto with a brutal left hook to the temple, followed by a hard combo for good measure. I look for a middle round TKO. The excitement and anxiety of the fight will be greater than the actual fight because I think Mosley (even at his advance age) is still too fresh, too experience and too good for Cotto at this point in their respective career.

Well, i feel Judah staggered Cotto a number of times, Mosely is just as strong and fast as Judah, but he is also a much better fighter in terms of heart, countering and persistence. Shane will not forget to hit Cotto!
Thats why i feel, its worth a few squids on the mosely KO.

This is a fight i dont really want, not because its not a fight of importance or significance but because its two guys i love in there. I dont want either to lose....Oh a draw would be cool!

Honestly, I think Cotto is gunna stop him. Just read a few interviews with Shane not too long ago and I'm not convinced the passion to fight is burning as brightly as it used to be (not because of recent fights, just the things he says). Shane is a great guy and doesn't really get enough credit for how great he has been for this sport. However, Cotto is hungry for success and I just don't see him losing.

Well thats a good point bzkfn, but thats one thing i like about mosely he doesn't have to "fight," as such. He can box superbly, as seen against Collazo and win UD's at will.
I no u mean "fight," in the sense of competeing as a boxer, but if he had lost his desire why would he still be here? Mosely craves that respect he has been deprived and i dont think he'll retire until he receives such respect or loses heavily.

Very well said. The ONLY way i see Shane losing this fight is if he grows old in the ring that night. Otherwise, he does everything better than Cotto...speed, skill, chin, experience...and yes....even power. Mosely at 147 can bang with anyone. If Cotto makes this into a brawl...he will be getting picked apart by a much faster and crisper puncher. As far as body punching...i know that's Cotto's bread and butter....but Shane can also bang to the body beautifully. I think too many people are overpraising Cotto's win over Judah. Sure...it was a big win...and yes...Cotto is a very good fighter....but Judah is not on the same level as Shane. It should be an exciting fight...but i can see Cotto getting punished by a much faster and skilled fighter.

I hate to say it cause I think a win for Cotto is better for the game. But IMO I think Mosley even at this stage of his career can pull out the victory over the distance. Either way we as the fans win. This is a great match up of styles & I credit both guys for making it happen! I am really amped about this fight. It will answer a lot of questions I hope. It could be the emergence of the next real super star in Cotto or the return of Sugar Shane. How good is the game at the moment?

I'm picking the winner of these 2 to whoop Mayweather's ass.

OK here is the thing. Jodah in the PBF's fight he responded almost all the punches PBF threw but for some reason he did not want it to let his hands go with Cotto.

    reason?
    scare of getting hit hard?
    Cotto just wasn't that predictible?

    that was weird
