with the current technology we have, doing a replay will do more good in boxing. what's the problem with replaying to know what really happened?

I agree with you Beanflicker.cc from me.

It would break the flow of a fight possibly.....maybe thats why they don't use it in football (soccer) yet. They use it in Rugby but that naturally stops and starts action wise. Hmmm I dunno might be a good thing.

They should let the old judges who miss half the action retire first.

I'm all for instant replay. In situations like the FNF incident this past weekend, however, we were only shown one punch from different angles and nothing from earlier in the round. Maybe the cut was started by a headbutt and then worsened by the effective punching of Rodrigez. I'm not sure.

The ESPN crew is good enough to nail down when a problem occurs so I'm not doubting that they hit the right point necessarily, but what we didn't see this time was blood. Usually the blood starts flowing fairly rapidly especially when it comes to cuts that look like that.

I agree with PREME in that there is no reason that instant replay couldn't continue as the fight continues. If the only reason the Collins corner felt safe in stopping the fight was due to the "headbutt" ruling then maybe his corner people don't really have the fighter's best interests at heart in the first place. I'd hate to think they would send him back in there just because the cut is ruled to be due to a punch.

I would also like to expand the instant replay beyond punch/headbutt and knockdowns. How about using it to discredit judges who have a fight so completely different from the other two judges.

Although I'm completely for the use of instant replays, if they need to review a head butt/knockdown it would take a good amount of time for the ref to view the footage. This may cause the fighters to cool down and decrease the intensity of the moment for the fans.

QUESTION: how do you +cc or -cc someone? I'm fairly new to this forum.

Good point on it effecting the fighters, but in this specific fight the fight was already called off. So the ref had plenty of time to see the video after the fight to see that It was a clear right punch.

I think they need it. Correct me if I'm wrong guys but didn't Maywether's glove touch the canvas during the fight with Judah? during that 1 minute break, they should have an outside official view that moment and decide himself if it was a knock down or not, then he could notify the ref in the ring and then before the round begins, he could take a point away from the fighter for that previous round. a fair fight is a fair fight right? If every other sport has or are going to it, why can't boxing?
