    Default Optional defense for Casamayor!

He;s going to face Jose Santa Cruz before he unifies v the winner of Diaz v Diaz. Good choice,he needs to stay active, especially at this age, He looked poor v a weight drained and totally ineffective Corrales so I wonder how he would do,at thi stage of his career,v someone live like Juan Diaz.

In theory he should, but age and inactivity will catch him at some point. I just hope it's not in this fight!

Nice money making fights here for Casamayor...specially with a Diaz fight in Chicago.

Joel should have no problem with this fight...Then hopefully the fight with Diaz will be for big money.....Win or lose....IMO he will be retiring in a year or so....The sad part is Joel should of had many more high profile fights then what he has...He was or should I say has been an avoided guy for the most part....

I believe joel can handle santa cruz with few problems,he's rugged but normal and can be a good jump off point for casamayor vs. juan diaz.Dias Imo.is set to make a major impression and I dont think casamayor can keep pace, maybe hes never gotten his due but he is on the other side of the hill now.

Casa is no doubt the man to beat @ lightweight. But he aint gettin' any younger. He should start challenging the 3 or 4 guys behind him like the 3 Diazs.

Finally Casamayor fights again. I'm glad he finally found a fight, he's got to be one of the most ducked boxers in the sport. A great fighter who isn't a huge draw = ducked. His only losses have been extremely controversial, Casamayor is easily top 15 P4P, though he apparently didn't look too good against Corrales in his last match(I didn't see the fight).

It'd be nice to seem him win this, then go on to destroy David Diaz who is very lucky to be champion as...

    A) Casamayor was stripped for no real reason at all
    B) I thought Morales beat him by about 4 rounds, so how he was gifted that fight is beyond me.

If Casamayor is the force he claims to be, him and Juan Diaz would be a superb fight.

Santa Cruz isn't a bad fighter, this might actually be a fight he can win if Casamayor has slipped a bit. I've always liked him since him and Edner Cherry (who I actually thought won their contest) saved the Castillo - Reyes card by putting on a show. Very good fight that was.

Santa Cruz has skills, he just goes down a lot which I guess doesn't bode well for him. But he certainly has the skillset to hang with anybody who overlooks him. Unlike most optional defenses, this should end up on TV.

Just checked, it's on the undercard of Cotto - Mosley. Great matchmaking here and a real showcase for both guys and it will be an exciting fight. Given the big stage, Casamayor will probably KO him but Santa Cruz won't lay down and I'm sure he wants a rematch with Diaz who he was beating thoroughly before that uppercut from Diaz.

Good fight here, I'm looking forward to it.

I think Casamayor KO's Santa Cruz! Then moves on to the winner of Juan vs Julio.
I am disappointed that Casamayor isn't rematching Campbell, Campbell is fast becoming the most avoided fighter in the division IMO!

I Think you nailed it,this light divison can blow up and produce some major firework's.Campbell Throws from the seats,He can hurt any light he connects with.I still cannot shake loss's to pedan,ok the 2nd but that stupid s!!! in the 1st fight was insane.put any of these together and they work:casamayor-Juan diaz (ready to break out)-David diaz-Kid diamond(train wreck waiting to happen but exciting)-campbell-Katsidis(Seen him once,I'd pay again)-julio diaz(2nd life).....A.peterson,Etc.Etc.

That 1st fight with Peden threw things out the window for Campbell but he seems back on track now. I think your right that there are exciting fights to be made here. Katsidis/ Campbell would be a must see! Only I think Julio defeats Juan & goes in against Casamayor!

Plus your right Anthony Peterson is ready, & although I hate to watch him fight Raheem is gonna be tough for anyone!
